Great list! I have a few of these on my TBR, most excited about getting to S.A. Chakraborty, K.S. Villoso, and Katherine Arden! The Barclan Series sounds intriguing, I went ahead and bought book one. Thanks for the rec! We love an underhyped indie gem! YESSS Someone else who loves Tide Child! One of the only books to make me shed physical tears 😅

@@AFictionalEscapist KS Villoso is still so underrated imho, especially her self pub series! I look forward to your thoughts on these though! I did not expect to love Tide Child as much as I did based on book 1! But it got me in all the feels! 💜

It's not even funny how many favourite series we share hahaha. I think Broken Earth is the only one I have read where we really had a different experience, though I also fully acknowledge that I probably read it at the wrong time in my reading journey. Also, I NEEEED to read Barclan and Chronicles of the Bitch Queen already! 🤩

@@esmayrosalyne I am not even slightly surprised. To be fair I feel like Broken Earth is the anomaly on this list anyway. I’m actually terrified of when a few of the self pub series I have on the go come to an end and then they’ll shake up the whole list hahaha I neeeeed your thoughts on those! 💯

Winternight is also amongst my favourites, it's so beautiful! And of course, The Banished Lands deserves to be so high on this list, it's just fantastic. I purchased all 3 of the Barclan ebooks after watching your bookshelf tour because they were all 99p! Aaaah, there are so many series on here that I need to read!

@@mojopie Winternigh is STUNNING! Let’s see if Bloodsworn dethrones the Banished Lands this year! 👀 Ooooo I look forward to your thoughts on The Barclan trilogy! It’s so painfully underhyped! Glad I’m a terrible influence on your TBR 😂😂

Realm of the elderlings- the liveship traders in particular- is the best series ever written. I keep saying I’m going to reread the whole thing again but the pain! I have never heard the NK Jemisin trilogy explained like that and now I’m interested in it. I’ve heard it’s difficult and dark, and I used to own the trilogy so now I’m kicking myself for getting rid of it!

@@jessicayork9035 my personal favourite within realm of the Elderlings varies daily but yes, the best series out there. I feel the same, I want to reread but also don’t want the sadness haha! Broken Earth is difficult in that you’re thrown in with no explanation and things are revealed as you go. It is dark that is for sure, I would consider looking up a list of content warnings. But it is one that is quite marmite so I wouldn’t worry too much about unhauling it haha! 💜
