Graham Jarvis is such a talented rider I don’t understand how he does some of the things he does. Nice video btw really enjoyed it.

Always wanted to try to do slow speed drills but when we all get together it’s wide open all day, and I hate riding by myself, it’s amazing how he does everything just off idle and so smooth
@noirxplorer31854 жыл бұрын
I learned slow speed at my house. Fortunate enough to have just enough land. I just found some logs and stuff. Had to get creative. It was a lot of fun and less embarrassing.

NoirXplorer yeah I have a small back yard but was thinking of doing the same, put a big tire and a log out there and just try to go over them without anyone watching

Have heard this advice before: learn to ride slow and you'll improve at going faster. Doing full-lock figure 8's without dabbing really takes skill. Been doing it on my KLX 300 and an old 1986 Honda TLR 200 vintage trials, which literally crawls in 1st gear. Now to learn to do wheelies....

I always thought I was a decent rider and I can tackle most trails. May not look pretty though. But when I decided to start training like the these guys I learned quickly how hard it is to balance, clutch, break and throttle control. Great training. Jarvis is obviously very talented. Seems simple huh? Just try it. It isn't.

When he says no auto clutch, like you mention sometimes, does that mean Rekluse clutches? Is there a reason behind that?
@ArnoldJudasRimmer7 жыл бұрын
Good vid but what did GJ say about the messed up way you hold the bar on the clutch side?? lol.

Great video again. The turn with brakes on drill is something I have perfected on a Harley Street Glide, if done properly they turn on a dime. Then, turning a dirt bike is very easy.

IF you want some early success and skill, buy a trials bike. Low CG, low weight, soft suspension. Great training tool, and where almost all enduro winners started out.

Got one now...an old 1996 GasGas JT25. But what are the things I should be trying to learn to help my trail riding?
@EnduroHeadquarters7 жыл бұрын
very true. almost all hard enduro champions have a trails background
@1998TDM7 жыл бұрын
The same techniques. I have tiny testicles and the fear factor inhibits what I do on my enduro bike. On my trials bike I can screw up with an elegant and pain free dismount. Rinse and repeat. When I get the technique I feel a lot more confident trying it on the "big" bike.
@SootyHunt6 жыл бұрын
I hear totally the opposite with a trials bike if you are already riding MX, enduro etc.... People I know that thought this regretted it....

Great vid Thanks!-- I will second all the comments on trials bikes- and per all the vid’s I have seen, Graham always teaches these same trials fundamental skills at each of his classes I just got a GasGas 300 and now have 20 hrs on it per the engine clock --and it really is helping this old dog learn new tricks- in short 'exactly' the same things Graham teaches/demonstrates -it’s much more efficient to learn these basics on my trials bike vs my 350-and makes riding the 350 even more fun as I gently try to incorporate on it what I am barely beginning to master on the GasGas.

Jarvis has been pretty vocal about clutches from jump. only reason I put one on is my Fe501 stalls so easy. once I get a 300 ill put in a rekluse. But it will be one of their manual clutches.

I've taken this course with Graham and I can affirm EVERYTHING said in this video! It is easily 100 times harder than it sounds / looks. But Graham is right (duh) that these basics are necessary to improve your riding skills. Being a novice (only riding enduro 3 years now) much of the course was above my ability, however seeing, hearing and practicing with his guidance has definitely improved my riding and I continue to practice what he teaches. If you have the chance to take one of his courses, DO IT! You will not regret it! Here are a small number of videos from my session with him. Pretty basic here but, as stated above, it is a LOT harder than it looks: kzbin.info/aero/PL96mUpUSSuH-Lvj6tb0mBtAALdCLajJY3

not gonna lie i’m shy/scared to go places to learn because i’m scared they might judge me because of my older bike, cause everyone has newer ones
@lancairw8677 жыл бұрын
Anthony Vu Don’t be. If you are comfortable riding it and it runs you are fine 👍🏻It’s really all about the rider anyway. Our local dirt bike club had a woods Turkey Run type time trail race. Out of about 30riders on mostly new KTMs, the guy who won was on a 15 year old Honda 150😂
@bradb91467 жыл бұрын
It doesn't matter what you're riding , as long as you're riding ! I've got brand new bikes , and I've got bikes as old as 1972 , and all of them get me into the woods , and down the trails . Just think about the guy without one at all , looking at you wishing he had what you did . Not only that , but I get more compliments on my older bikes , from guys on brand new ones in the trails all the time . If you can do half the shit on an old bike that guys are doing on brand new ones , then that's saying something in my book . °\(ö)/° = )
@markmtbrider7 жыл бұрын
Don't worry about what other people think. Riding is an individual sport. You improve for you. It is always more fun when you do stuff or pass people on an obsolete dirtbike.

This is true. We have had Graham out 3 times now for classes, and have always supplied the bike. Other than changing plastics, he never does anything to the bike, maybe lowers the rear tire pressure.... He does amazing things no matter what bike he is on. But then again, maybe Husqvarna Factory Specs are Graham Jarvis Specs... lol
