SQ 42 has been promised for years. This was supposed to be the entry game for Star Citizen. I backed both of them years ago. I'm 61 and I might see either game before I get to 65.

Hang in there. I'm 64 and so I get the ticking clock aspect of what you say. Star Citizen is about to do a huge patch and I get the sense that 2024 will at last be a year that not only sees the reality of Squadron 42 but also significant jump forward for Star Citizen.

I like immersion, freedom, and sci-fi. My many years of playing Star Citizen, have spoiled and ruined many sci-fi games I have seen come, coming, and gone. Even SQ42 has me concerned about its limitations for its design to be more being linear. Though I do understand why it is. Most of these don't appeal to me because of my preferences, but the Star Wars titles look interesting. After the Star Field drama, I'll reserve expectations, but hope for better.

@@adamd1347 Early this year was a mess due to backend tech being implemented. It was worth the hassle. But playable is relative term that applies to the individual. Me and many others have been playing it for years. So its been playable for us for a long time. One fella was playing it on a potatoe laptop (for years) at 20fps on a good day. Still won combat fights in a Prospector with it. So its relative. Some just desire more than others to consider it playable. Its your opinion, you decide.

I’m sorry but that game is a scam, there is no intention of releasing it when you can get people to donate you money or get investments without deadlines. @@lordhelwintr283 At 20 fps no game plays smooth. But I'm not getting 20 fps on my hardaware 90% of the time. So your hardware may need some work. As long as its playable, for me, I could care less if it ever releases. I don't need an arbitrary word attached to project to have fun with it. And in these days the word "released doesn't mean squat. Look up the definition of scam, then take a look at Elite Dangerous's funding and development, during its "release" for so many years. Cause that went well! Starfield "released" after 8 years of dev on an exsiitng game engine. Hows that going? CIG has given me far more than promised when I purchased my starter pack in 2013. And has not ever required me to pay more to continue to play it all these years, and its additional content. In fact I have gotten many free things from them for being a supporter.

@@adamd1347 Keep in mind what we've learned. Sq42 was the focus, NOT Star Citizen PU polish. Why waste time polishing something that is going to be replaced. The only real focus on the PU was eliminating game killing bugs. That wasn't easy to do this year, due to the implementations of some big back end stuff. Sq42 was the focus, but now we can expect more work to be done on the PU. The next 12 months are going to be interesting. Do expect bugs, but as the new tech is implemented, and bugs squashed, it will get better. A lot better.

No not yet, this was posted November last year on the official X feed - it's been very quiet but the game definately isn't dead. "Well, looks like the cat’s out of the bag, dagnammit. BGE2 was never meant to come out, in fact it was never even a BGE game to begin with. It was an ambitious project for an original IP but they could never get the tech working properly for the scale they were building at so they had abandoned it. They reskinned to BGE just so they could buff quarterly numbers for shareholders at E3 with a trailer. I work for a AAA studio and have a lot of former Ubi colleagues/friends - one of them worked on it who is the person who told me this a couple years ago after I said I was excited for its release lol. Bookmark this message and check me on this a few years from now. I promise you'll never see it released.

I like first person, I like playing through the eyes of the protagonist so I get the full immersive feeling just as you would in real life. Third person is like having a drone behind you keeping watch and spying on you.

A lot of games that you play alone. I think the gaming industry is missing out on a noteworthy issue of modern life: loneliness. None of these games address that epidemic... of people seeking social connections. The last game that really put socializing into its gameplay was Star Wars Galaxies. I am surprised that after all this time, and with the social needs only increasing that there has been nothing yet to compare with Star Wars Galaxies. Such a HUGE potential market, and yet the industry is ignoring it and only dishing out better looking versions of what already exists.
