To be honest, most of the time, in open world games, I pay more attention to the.... world. I find all or most quests in open world games are fetch type so they can only be intereasting enough to be a motive for exploring the map and enjoying the game world

All the normal boring sort of stuff then. Strange creatures to attack you, strange lands etc. Seems developers are running out of ideas so release the same as every other developer. To much of the same type of games leads to poor sales. Sadly nothing new and most will make a financial loss as a result.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn…… This is what happens when artists get a hold of the unreal 5 engine, and get forced into making a game which has been done over and over again, leaving them with zero original ideas. In a sad way, I’m glad that we have reached a point where games are being remade, DUE to the mentioned - zero originality, thus having to rely on remaking already great games. It’s like being presented a cake with mostly icing, yet there’s no surprising taste or cake in there. Just icing.

So look, I know I’m sounding whiney about how boring the current games have become, but I really think it’s true. Myself, I’ve been (and still am) a games artist, and I’m an obsessive gamer. I love it!! I love gaming. It’s the one thing I’m looking forward to until the end of my days. But… So many games of today are really gorgeously created, at least the art side of it. But the games are just….boring. I can understand that originality is a rarity of today, and I know how difficult it is to undertake a massive project like making a AAA game title, and then having to compete against so many other games coming up, but this is why we have such mediocrity within the game industry lately. I know there are a few titles coming out this year but we haven’t had a brilliant game with the likes of let’s say Half Life, to come out and smack us in the face. I thought that Starfield was going to be that game (the one I payed £75) but o was quite disappointed by it. It’s not really original. And we all thought we could land the spaceship on our own etc, without having a pre-animation of the ship landing/taking off. I guess I’m frustrated with the current innovation. Far Cry 6 was a perfect example of a really boring game, yet simply gorgeous graphics wise.

You got that right! Far Cry 6 had to be the most boring game of the franchise, AND what's that all about home made silencers for weapons that MELT after five or six shots. C'mon developers, your customers are worth more than this after the prices we pay for the game. PS. The first game I ever bought was a "Platinum" copy of Medal of Honour 1. It cost just £16 GBP, now your customers are paying between £50 and £60 GBP, we are more deserving than the same old rubbish you are hashing up to us.

i just want eso to have cross-save, I've been waiting for years, long story short my friends and i all agreed to move from xbox to PC years ago and we did it, we all miss eso greatly but it is a spit in the face for them to tell us to start from scratch, we have YEARS of content, data and items from subscription and or boxes just sitting there and they're like nah fam, gotta start over... like wtf, ten years old soon, they are with xbox now and have a spare eight billion, why not remake the game again and relauinch it with better graphics and more options and with cross-save and cross-play... the only cry babies that dont want cross-play are the marketing babies and honestly three times the traffic on the markets would fix whatever discrepancies the maker would have after a month or two... so fugg that lot.

Kind of repeating the words of other commenters… but yeah, these games inspire yawns. No real immersion, no character creation, no interesting NPCs… There could be so, so, so much more in the way of open-world games. Why not a game set in legit Ancient Egypt (without a bunch of winged dinosaurs or monsters etc); visiting temples, embalming mummies, avoiding plague or death in childbirth…. or set in Ancient Rome? Play as a plebeian trying to pay off creditors and avoiding crucifixion, or a ruthless noble attending the gladiator games? Or heck, the Italian Renaissance? How about the Salem Witch-hunts? Play as a practicing witch or a vicious God-fearing judge spreading fear amongst the people? And can we NOT have every main protagonist be male? Character creation or no, just a male OR female option would be…. thoughtful. Get it together developers. None of us want the same shit over and over again.
