My dad and I loved that song when I was growing up and the only thing I planned for my wedding as a kid was dancing to that song with my dad, especially since we did go to dad-daughter dances. There wasn't a dry eye between the two of us.

Once his father died, he turned to food for comfort despite his family history of diabetes as his siblings also died from diabetes. I can relate as I also have family members who also died from diabetes. His diet was so well-known similar to Elvis that the show The Boondocks made a joke out of it.

Some of my favorites are: Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman, Father and Daughter by Paul Simon, and My Little Girl by Tim McGraw. Each one makes me cry now because my father died in 2016. He loved these songs, too. He wasn't the most vocal about how much he loved my brother and me, but he communicated with words. He wrote letters to me when I was first born(think Dear Theodosia in Hamilton). I miss him daily.

I never married, but if I had, I would've picked this song for my Dad and I. Like in the song/movie, my Dad was a teacher, and I would've loved to surprise him with this song because it's very meaningful to me. I'm almost 54, and I'll probably never get married, but the worst part is that he passed away in September of 2022, so even if I do get married someday, he won't be able to walk me down the aisle, and that really breaks my heart. Nope. Let Me Be Your Wings from Thumbelina is not on here. Fail. I've sung that to my daughter since she was 2. She is now fifteen and to this day if I sing it she will cry.
