For me, his high water mark was the episode on the George Floyd murder and the ensuing protests. It was hilarious and the writing was unusually sharp, eg, in response to a political figure saying "we're pissing money away," his rebuttal was the fellow "needed to find a new urologist." And he turned the ending over to a young Black woman who was clearly very angry but also very articulate. Her closing words were "You're lucky we don't want revenge, we just want equality."

I agree with most of the list. Thought the televangelist episode should have been higher up on the list. Also, the Nuclear episode (North Dakota) was FIRE!!! 😂 On a serious note, every year when mid-May rolls around and John stops doing shows until the end of September, it is depressing. So I really want to give honor and great respect to John, HBO, "Business Daddy" AT&T (🤣🤣🤣) and the entire Last Week Tonight crew for giving up their usual hiatus to bring us informative, entertaining shows all this summer. They didn't have to yet they still did. And for John especially, having a one year and four year old sons at home, doing his show during the pandemic is especially laudable and kind. And it's exactly why they win awards 🏆 that haven't even been created yet!

I honestly think there's no wrong answers to which moments are his best. His show is thoroughly researched, his writers are exceptional, and his morality in explaining difficult and polarizing topics is top notch. It's one of the best late night shows ever and has multiple Emmy wins and awards for good reason. How many comedy shows can say that they have influenced public discourse on everything from FIFA, to elder care, voting districts, and even the renaming of the UFC bubble? He even got people to pay attention to things like chicken farming, the Equifax security breach, and human rights violations around the globe, and it's profoundly impacted the ways in which people consume their news and understand headline events. It's brilliant stuff, and I'm glad that his content eventually gets shared on KZbin for free (2 week delay for internationals like myself) because it's beneficial to everyone to hear these topics being discussed and bringing light to dark subjects.
