I usually don’t care for villains, but sometimes their deaths make me feel sad, especially when I learn about their pasts and the circumstances that make them the way they are. 😔😔😔

I'm the opposite, I love villains. Heroes are cool too, but I prefer villains more because they are usually more unpredictable, interesting and help the hero to shine more by confronting their beliefs. They also make me question morality. Here's a hypothetical. Revenge is wrong right? But, if someone was to kill your precious loved one, would you not seek revenge or think about it? My point is there is a thin line between good and evil sometimes. Many villains have had someone dear to them killed by another person or had some unbearable trauma done to them. (i.e. Obito from NS, Nobunaga from HxH, Toga from MHA.) One good example of this would be Eren Yeager. Some people think he is an evil genocidal manic. Others think he is a hero for defending his home and trying to protect his friends. The fan base can't agree which one he really is. Sometimes a villain shows us what can happen to us if we were to go down the wrong path.

Yes, I'm not going to lie. That made me cry too. I cried and expected Obito's death in NS, but Twice dying I did not see coming. Esp. some of his last words. "I have to protect everyone..." He was kind, misguided and unstable, but good. Just on the wrong side. I love how he saves Touga/Toga. And then after he dies, she starts stabbing mad heroes for him in revenge.

For Naruto, I'm surprised the starting demo clip wasn't used as the answer, since Zabuza and Haku had incredibly emotional deaths; they were a strong example of how the enemies they will face have connections and love the same as the "good guys." I'd also add (some of whom have two deaths because of plot): Kimimaro Sasori. Pain/Nagato. Konan. Itachi Uchiha. Madara Uchiha.

Obito is one of the best villains. Cunning, intelligent, skilled fighter and determined. My favorite anime character. His death was so noble. Yes he did a lot of bad things like start wars and kill people. But, when he was reunited with Rin I was so happy. I cried my eyes out when I first saw that scene. His redemption was truly complete. Helping to defeat a greater evil and saving Naruto like 3 times. Agruably one of the best written characters.

For me the most tragic part of Obito's life and death was that he was manipulated from the very begining by Madara and Zetsu - and he didn't even noticed. And well, Madara was manipulated as well almost the same way. All Uchihas' stories are tragic and for me it's the tragedy of Naruto's world.

Good question. I think the answer is no. Some villains are truly evil at their core and that is their true nature and won't change no matter what. Someone like Naraku from Inuyasha had to be put down and could never be trusted. Others like Obito Uchiha or Twice could be redeemed if they put in the work and willingly to go through enough pain. Those two were sympatheic villains. Where as the former is just pure evil incarnate.

I got to agree with the other person they can't be Simply Be redeemed even though they have tragic backstories in a court of law they're not going to do they're not going to go like oh they had tragic backstories that's going to give them a lighter sentence know because courts don't give a crap about that. An example is Eren Jaeger yes he lost so many friends and family members but he also tried to commit gen0c!de, terr0r!sm and a bunch of other crimes that would easily get you the ultimate punishment that quickly even with a lawyer and that's the sad reality of this world yes I agree these anime character should be punished for what they did along with other people who committed horrible crimes in real life but you also got to understand their point of view like they were suffering but we can't just simply excuse that And this is my opinion please do not har@ss me in the comments

Damn, yeah that is good at one. Cause i guess it is just me seeing it, but its what was Naruto's alternate story may have been or something to that effect. For DBZ, Vegeta's first death is a great choice, but it is possible that his second death as Majin Vegeta was possibly more impactful as a self-sacrifice in an attempt to save his son, and the universe at large. Though, I suppose it might not count, as he was good guy, but had a voluntarily lapse into evil out of pride.

13:33 yep the tragedy of his fate is that he was trapped in a web of his own making. He influenced his past self at the end of season 3 to where the only outcome would be the rumbling and it wasn’t just himself that he manipulated he manipulated his dad and the owl. This is because once he gained the power of the founding titan he stuck in the villain role to the point that he was responsible for his own mother’s death. He couldn’t change anything once he took on the power of the founder his only deviation was allowing humanity to to struggle to kill him.

Scirocco’s death at the end of Zeta Gundam. He charmed so many women into his service only to then enrage Camille into impaling scirocco with the Zeta Gundam. With his dying breath, Scirocco converts his life force into Newtype energy in order to fry Camilie’s mind. It was both emotionally charged and brutal.

There are plenty of deaths in Black Lagoon, though most are dark or funny. I don't actually consider their deaths "emotional" per se because their whole deal is extremely creepy and uncomfortable, but perhaps noteworthy are Hansel and Gretel. Purely heart-breaking deaths are with Ginji Matsuzaki and Yukio.

The deaths of Sensui, Vegeta and Envy REALLY got me. With Vegeta, I distinctly remember watching it with my sisters. As he begged for his life and for Goku to end Frieza I literally started doing the "ugly cry". Snot n all. Sensui and Eny generally made me feel the same for them both. I HATED the two of them, especially Sensui. I remember watching Yusuke go demon mode and thinking "Yes Yusuke... END him" What I thought was going to be a fairly even match with Yusuke coming out on top... Ohhhh boy Was I wrong. I remember watching and I went from "Yeah do it Yusuke" to "DEAR GOD MAN HE'S HAD ENOUGH! LET HIM GO YUSUKE"! and I felt horrible for wanting him gone lol. Envy was generally the same, except I was happy this time that The good General was lighting his ass up. However, seeing his true form, hearing him cry about why he was really envious, the high pitch in his voice, and then seeing him end himself, I distinctly remember covering my mouth and was just freakin sobbing lol.

I like Dragon Ball Z a lot, but the deaths kind of have less of an effect when they can just be wished back to life using the dragon balls. Plus animes like Naruto Shippuden, Attack on Titan and My Hero Academia have more interesting villains that are might not be seen as morally black or white. More complex and emotionally compelling you might say. Like Eren, Twice, Reiner, Obito. I think the idea of redemption is to make things right after doing wrong by helping as many people as you can and going through pain in the process.

Hellsing Ultimate - Enrico Maxwell - leader of Iscariot, who manoeuvres his way into command of the Vatican's forces for a Crusade ostensibly to counter Millennium, but he uses it to murder survivors of the initial attack due to his irrational hatred of Protestants. However, he seems emotionally scarred for being an abandoned bastard, so sought power to compensate some self-worth, but became corrupted by the more power he attained. He sobs for rescue from his adoptive father figure, Anderson, only to have his demise ensured by him. Maxwell cries, dreading feeling alone his whole life, and now alone in death. - Luke Valentine - granted, the emotion is joy due to how hillariously horrible it is, but still. His first death was brutal and prolonged at the hands (or teeth) of Alucard, where he is ripped apart and consumed. But during the battle between Alucard and Walter, Luke is restored, to find himself in wartorn London, only to suffer an even longer, more horrible death. - Alexander Anderson - he and Alucard begin as hated enemies, before developing a mutual respect for each other's strength and drive. Anderson sacrifices his humanity for more power, to Alucard's distress. Alucard manages reverse the change, but Anderson dies due to the damage of transformation and having his heart crushed. They have a fond farewell, and Anderson hears the voices of the children he has cared for over the years. - The Captain - a werewolf member of Millennium, the most mysterious and least cruel. - Walter C. Dornez - He is an ally, mentor, and friend to Seras and Integra (beforehand when she was a child), and is captured by Millennium. He reappears, restored to youth, fighting on behalf of the Nazis, however, he seems brainwashed. Yet it's revealed he willingly joined Millennium, and had actually been a traitor the whole time, all to orchestrate a rematch with Alucard at his best. The de-aging process was rushed, so he begins to revert to younger and younger, eventually returning to his childhood state from during WWII. He realises that he can't beat Alucard, and that by sacrificing his own humanity, he had lost before the fight began. Walter destroys the mad Doktor's lab, causing it to crush the scientist; he accepts his own death, wishing an affectionate goodbye to Integra, the master he should have remained loyal to instead; his older visage appears over the youth, a reminder of the kind man he was when helping Hellsing. - The Major - kind of bizarre because he is the leader of Millennium and completely devoid of empathy, and a complete psychopath. Yet his death is strangely sombre since it is the most human.

I'm very late to the party but I want to toss in my two cents. He's not exactly a villian, persay. They make him out to be one at first. Sensai from Assassination Classroom. The fact that he basically threatens the whole planet and puts the fate in the hands of his students, tells you you shouldn't root for him, but by the end of the series, I broke down in tears as he finally killed by the kids and it was very heartbreaking.

Nakago was a villain I never liked in the whole FY manga and anime, he seamed straight evil and nothing else - until he died and we got to know the ugly part of his past. That was the only thing that made this character easier to understand and that is way I think his death was very emotional. But well FY seams to be a mostely forgotten anime, so...
