You forgot the trope where people just get hit by a car for not apparent reason, and everyone just acts like nothing happened. Since Final Destination, this has been such an unrealistic, overused trope. You look both ways, and don't see a car, you walk on the street, and a massive semi-truck honks its horn and plows you, continuing to drive like nothing happened, and everyone else doesn't seem to notice. In Insidious Chapter 3, it's taken to hilarious extremes when the character is on the road long enough for the car to stop, and the character gets run over anyway. As someone who has been hit by a car 7 times (all of which were cars running through stop signs), I know how traumatizing it can be for everyone involved.

Addendum to #3: Movie characters will often waste time saying the other person's name or "listen to me", when they should be saying the important thing quickly before the bomb explodes, one of them dies from their wounds or loses the other's fleeting attention. (e.g., "Honey, I can explain." "Well, go ahead." "... You know, you look great today." "Hmph [storms out in a huff]" Should have just revealed to her you have a twin brother instead of wasting time.)

Actually, people who do a lot of work on computers learn shortcut keys to help them work more quickly because the mouse just slows you down.
@ELMolliez4 жыл бұрын
Mmm #12 it's actually true... Most programs that rely on coding, or most command prompts, don't require a mouse. Command prompting is what's actually used in hacking, computer mouse was introduced to make the life easier for people didn't want to use command prompt, but entering commands in a computer grants you a much wider and precise control over all actions and tasks in a system. So yeah... I majored in systems engineering and computer science, and most tasks are done thru keyboard.

Trying to escape from someone driving a car by running down the centre of the road. Or running UP the stairs to escape when being pursued on foot. My personal favourite, a redshirt type character with glasses has them knocked off and becomes totally blind falling to their knees to grope around trying to find them. I wear glasses and while modern spectacles are pretty good they can't gift the blind with sight. If I drop my glasses unless it's pitch black I can still see them.

One thing I've always hated is when someone important getts killed or found dead the relatives are almost always at the scene (crime scene). I kind of like the trope where most horror movies have a scene involving teenagers in a classroom who are learning about a subject that is conveniently relevant to the history or method of defeating the villain (Quantum Physics in Happy Death Day, and Film Theory in Scream, for example).

The number 1 trope is aptly parodied by the Simpsons quite often. There are numerous scenes in the series when something as innocuous as a shopping trolley, or a baby stroller is pushed/ knocked astray and ends up exploding upon making contact/ colliding with something/ anything. While it may not sound funny, watching it unexpectedly happen on the show is indeed funny and it's a well deserved barb aimed pointedly at movie execs who seem to feel that everything needs to explode...

Actually...#14 is somewhat accurate. I am not saying that the way movies do it is always correct, but as an IT manager I can accomplish a lot more with a keyboard at the command prompt or power shell. From servers to routers and other network appliances, the command line is where the power is. Keep in mind, the part of the interface that you can use a mouse on has to be designed and placed on top of the root command language. Usually, only the most common or basic commands are available to a mouse.
