The tragic part is that a man who has never functioned or socialized in a normal setting or a real world, with a severe lack of knowledge about almost everything about it, just got loose into it, with no money (which I suppose won't be much problem since he can sue the studio for a literal lifetime of unpaid wages) no family, no where to go, or proper idea of how to function, with a hopefully possibility of one love interest (he could possibly trust), who might be reach him before someone else grabs him in front of the studio and essentially puts him back into the same position of exploitation. We can hope people will still treat him as nice as he was treated in his fake world, but even real world people with the best intentions can be still be absolute dicks.

It just sucks that the book ending, which is the superior one all things considered, would have been a crap ending to the movie due to the difference in medium and storytelling methods involved. So Peter Jackson killed off Saruman and moviegoers got a happy ending, instead of the rude awakening of coming back to the Shire with Saruman in firmly in charge of the place and attempting to respond in kind to what was done to him at Isengard. Thematically, it's thr better ending and served up another aspect of Tolkien's overall message (in this specific case, that somtimes "you can't go home again" and that war can leave some pretty messy problems behind), but having the movie end with solving the Shire's problem after you already stopped Sauron is an awful ending once transitioned to film.
@jayluck80474 жыл бұрын
countcapricorn - Agreed. I always shut off the movie early and read, “The Scouring of the Shire”. It’s the most satisfying ending. The completion of the journey, the lessons learned, and how differently Sam and Frodo handle their returning to the Shire, is the main point of the story and ties into Tolkien’s life during times of war.

I mean, Buffalo Bill could have easily killed Clarice with his gun since he was wearing night vision glasses and had seen where Clarice was. The Breakfast Club's ending is one of the best although one could argue that it might not be satisfactory as it is uncertain if the five teenagers remain friends beyond that Saturday and make an attempt to talk to each other within the high school world. Apparently there is a deleted (additional) ending scene where the five characters see each other in the hallway at school on Mondays and give nods to each other while they are in their peer groups but it's still not completely clear.

I know it's a small movie in comparison to some of the ones on this list, but I think the ending of Trading Places was very satisfying. The Dukes (and Beeks) got just what they deserved and Louis, Billy Ray, and Co. got a very happy ending.

Another reason the bowing ending in Return of the King is so effective, is because after everyone bows, it’s the first time in the trilogy that they are taller than everyone else, looking down instead of up. It’s their time, up there (Sean Astin / Samwise Goonies pun).
