LA Confidential is still one of my favorite Noir films. Every role was perfectly cast, it has nearly a perfect script it's just an absolutely fantastic movie!!

Yes. I saw the original before the Fincher one. It's a shame not more people have seen this or even heard of it. In many ways, the original is better than Fincher's, and that's saying a lot as Fincher's is excellent.

Gosford Park was Not a murder mystery in the true sense of the genre - it was a commentary about the British class system before WWII in which a murder just happened to occur.

The Fincher "Dragon Tattoo" is terrible. The only one to see is the Swedish original (2009). The English language version seems so small, pale, and lightweight compared to Noomi Rapace. and the direction of Niels Arden Oplev. However, I pumped my fist at your #1. Nailed it. Congrats. Not just the best murder mystery but one of the best movies ever make, period. I on board with most of the other choices. Good work.

This is half atrocious and misleading list. Several movies on it are real gems I have to admit, The Third Man or Memoirs of a Murder for example, but most of the list not good enough to be top20. In my opinion. On it is for example stupefying Dragon Tattoo Girl remake instead of the nordic original that punches the viewer 10 times harder than the remake. Also, where did gems like The Last of Sheila (1973) disappear? The movie distributer didn't pay you enough to put it on the list?

I watched Knives Out very recently and I kinda disagree. I feel like that movie's supposed twist is very easy to see if you pay attention even slightly but also relies on individual actor performances of 3 main characters rather than the actual murder plot.
