You’re absolutely right about taif.. because I’m commenting from Taif Saudi Arabia and i last week visited the rose oil ( ittar) factory here of taif rose.. there are alot of rose factories here with attached rose gardens from where they get the freshest rose and they actually guide and elaborate you through the process of making rose oil and rose water..

I got Portrait of a lady but i feel its a very gothic kinda rose, and i wear it for special events not a day to day kinda fragrance for me but it’s definitely very unique. Some of my fav ones (for myself) -L’occitane Rose (the new one) very modern and fresh rose -Oud Ispahan by Dior (omg my fav rose-oud scent -Montale Intense Cafe -Chloe ...used to love it now just like it -Portrait of a lady

Indeed, Taif rose is from the city of Taif in western Saudi Arabia. The rose is much smaller than we see in the U.S., but it has a strong wonderful projection. The small petals are also used to flavor hot back teas. Delicious!

After watching the video, I got the Perris Monte Carlo Rose Extrait. It was my first blind buy and I’m glad it turns out great! Thank you for the recommendation.

I have Eloge and love it! Rose is the main note combined with lemon-vanilla-black pepper to convey the bright sweet sharpness of the green pepper. Very comfortable, uplifting scent to wear now in the summer.

Great review! I can’t wait to try some of your recommendations. I’m so sick of hearing people put down rose fragrances as smelling like a grandma. For some it just works with their body chemistry. I have worn so many over the years and never has someone guess what I am wearing, let alone pick up the rose. They are among my most commented fragrances. My most recent is Experimentum Crucis by ELdO. I also recommend Ex Nihilo’s French Affair, which is similar, more refined but with a little oakmoss.

Great well thought out and diverse list Sebastian ! Rose is my fave note in perfumery . . . Some other faves of mine are Armani Prive' Rose D'arabie, Elie Saab Essence of Rose #1, Amouage Lyric Man, Mancera Black to Black, as well as Al Haramain Floral Sculpture. I'm always picky with rose, but was given a sample of Smolderose by January Scent Project yesterday at my local perfume store and really liked it and will definitely be picking up a bottle for the cooler weather - it's resinous with oud and a powerhouse. Available in 30ml and 100ml - it's so strong, 30ml would last a long time. Have a great weekend Sebastian

Rose is a note I typically find very challenging in perfumery and have only found a few I enjoy: Byredo Rose of No Man’s Land is my favorite, Malle’s Une Rose seems the most accurate red rose, and Serge Lutens Sa Majest la Rose an accurate green rose. I want to try Slumberhouse Sadanne since I read Josh created that fragrance because he similarly struggles with rose and wanted to create a rose he would wear.

Awesome list. I will definitely have to try some of these. Two that I would recommend if you haven't tried them are Bollywood Or Bust by Smell Bent and Ardent by Boadecia the Victorious. Ardent is a super nice fresh red rose smell that is probably the most realistic rose smelling perfume I have smelled. Thanks for the great video!

Very good video as usual! I myself don't like the rose note...yet... The only mentioned fragrance I know is Montale's and I love it, will be getting my sample of Slow Explotions and excited about it. Maybe I'll get into the note... By your description I'd love to try the Initio and the Nishane😊 (the Little Prince rose)

I’d been looking for Lyric Man since last year!
