It's his accent for sure. I mean english pronounciation in Canada can sometimes slightly differ depending on which province you're from. With Canada having a long and unique history with the British, the standard Canadian accent can sometimes have a somewhat british "twang" to it, meaning some words in "Canadian english" are pronounced differently than "American english" words in the US. I was raised and grew up in Ottawa, Ontario, so I practically just sound like an "American" (according to some friends I have in the US) and was thought to be an American of Asian descent when I went on vacation there. Because, of course. A common mistake. 😝 But as to my fellow Canadians, I sound like another guy from Ontario. In Quebec, many locals have a french "twang" in their accent because of the province's colonial history with France, while in Nova Scotia, many locals speak with a Scottish accent due to the province's colonial history with Scotland (ex. Nova Scotia=New Scotland). Not sure it makes perfect sense with my explanation, but hey, I'm no "accent expert". It's just my hypothesis based off personal social encounters with people and general knowlege of my home country. Korean by birth 🇰🇷 Canadian by choice. 🇨🇦

I would say the first Five Nights At Freddy's game was scarier than Pizza Simulator. The first FNAF was where it all started, and you didn't really know what you were getting into. By Pizza Simulator, you basically already knew what to expect. I also would have put Slender much higher on the list.

However the enemies of SOMA and the themes of identity, existential dread, and what it is to be human were far more effective to me. And that ending? It's so... simple and yet it perfectly wraps up the story. Terrifying, depressing, morbid. Just an amazing game overall

Jump scares don't take any creativity and they just make a game, movie or TV show uncomfortable to watch. A real work of art when it comes to horror is something that can make you scared more than momentarily. A great example of this is the movie The Exorcist. Not a single jump scare but had a bigger impact on its audience than any piece of horror entertainment to this day. A jump scare that gives me an adrenaline rush for 10 seconds isn't keeping me up at night for days after. Its just a cheap way to scare someone and to be quite frank it's just not fun.

Oscar 😜 Yeah but would you honestly call The Last of Us a horror game? It’s a horror survival, and even then, it’s HEAVILY survival. It’s only a “horror” survival because it separates itself from other survival games like Minecraft or Ark by having an amazingly dark and well written story and having the setting and environment the game takes place in be dreadful and terrifying. But comparing it’s “scariness” to something like Outlast is kind of mistaking what the game really is. An amazing story built within a gripping survival game. (Also the Exorcist does have jump scares it’s just that they are now so dated that you can’t really realize if they are scares or not. Except for the face of Pazuzu appearing suddenly)

I thought the first games in both the Dead Space and Last Of Us series were scarier. Dead Space became more shootery and talky while Last Of Us focused more on the human enemies and made the scariest (IMO) monsters from the first game, the Clickers, the easiest enemy in the game to defeat. Definitely would take the first for scares in both cases.

I don’t do well with scary movies or games, but I somehow beat Biohazard and Isolation. I have no idea how I did it because I only remember the most terrifying moments and the endings. Every time I try to go back into those games I nope out. Jack and the bug lady left me with anxiety and panic attacks that made me go to therapy. By the way, RIP Mia.

That was the biggest problem for me too. The "molded" I think they were called were the only real enemy you faced. Some took different shapes and sizes but it was ultimately the same thing. I also felt the game was a bit derailed when you are exploring a large ship. Other than those flaws, it was easily their best Resident Evil since RE4.
