To me the greatest cameo is Buddy Epson in the Beverly Hillbillies movie. I think its so great is because he's playing Barnaby Jones. So he is playing one of his famous TV characters in a movie about his most famous TV character.

My parents saw Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves in the theater and were blown away by Sean Connery showing up on screen. They had a book about the making of the movie and it wasn't even mentioned in there! I got a kick out of Bernie Kopell, the original Siegfried from the Get Smart TV show, showing up in the movie. Loved James Garner in Maverick!

a Cameo on some level isn't out of the question... his Retirement was due to raising his kids after his wife passed away, the Kids are Grown... and he's been dipping his Toes in entertainment, again with an album, the commercials w/ Reynolds and voice cameos... with the remaining 3 and Janine all returning his reprisal of Louis wouldn't be out of the question (and frankly with his retirement, it'd be the perfect reveal to keep out of Trailers but get a roof rattling POP in theaters)

Leonard Nimoy showing up in the 2009 Star Trek was the PERFECT way to bring an original franchise actor into a reboot, and probably should've topped the list instead. He was there just enough in the movie to help out the characters and explain some plot events, without ever overshadowing our new cast. If Tobey and Andrew are in Spiderman No Way Home, I hope the writers take their Spidermen in a similar direction, since that one is most likely going to also be dealing with their alternate reality characters

A fun cameo in a Charlie Sheen movie was "Hot Shots! Part Deux", with the "I Loved You In 'Wall Street'" scene with Charlie and Martin Sheen. Martin makes an appearance as his Captain Benjamin L. Willard character from "Apocalypse Now", mirroring the activity of Charlie Sheen travelling on the river. They both reference the movie "Wall Street", which they were both in, by simultaneously shouting "I loved you in Wall Street!" as they pass each other on the river. It was a cute bit.

I'd make a Distinction (slight though it may be) between the 'Multi-verse Cameos (Durance, Welling, Ward, Wuhl) and the 'Mythology Gags' (Cain, Slater, Hatcher& Carter) and in a roundabout way even Kevin Sorbo as he was famously stated to be the 2nd choice behind Cain for the 90s series Routh is trickier as his use as Atom/Palmer was a 'Mythology gag' in the beginning; leading to a recurring Role, and a Regular Spot on Legends of Tomorrow.. and circling back to a return to the Universe his 06 film created - Smallville did the 'Mythology Gag' thing too, getting Cain as Curtis Knox (Vandal Savage with the Serial Number filed off) and Hatcher as Lois' Mom, via old video message Reeve and Kidder in arc roles, Helen Slater as Superman's Mom on Krypton and even Movie Jimmy Olson as a Kryptonian who'd been hiding on Earth all along
