Yes! Although he started his “Bill & Ted” string of Shiite, he canceled those debacles (of which he only made one in the ‘80s) with the likes of a “River’s Edge” and “Dangerous Liasons”. Keanu Reeves hasn’t a place on this list. Why’d they consider him in the first place? 🤔

No, Keanu Reeves BECAME a very good actor in his latter years. Go watch Bram Stoker's Dracula (listen to that abominable failed attemt at an english accent, & wooden delivery as John Harker). Watch Speed, as he delivers the famous line "what do you do? What do you do?" It's AWFUL. It's in his later years that he developed the depth to ovdrcome his prior limitations.

I have to agree that a number of these actors were in some bad movies that sure didn't help their careers. But I think Patrick Swayze was pretty good in Next Of Kin and Keanu Reeves has done real well in many of his movies. Some actors apparently made some poor choices with movie roles they were offered that I can't see some in the roles they did. Arnold though was pretty good in Kindergarten Cop in role that made use of his tough guy persona but placed him dealing with kids in a kindergarten class while going undercover looking for the former girlfriend of a dangerous criminal.
@rodh14045 ай бұрын
Even Nostalgic Nick thought Road House was ok. And Patrick Swayze's acting in that wasn't really bad. The point about Arnold doesn't really seem fair to me. Yes, he basically always played himself, but that's true of a lot of actors so this would be a list of hundreds of people (some quite successful) if that were the criteria. Both Arnie and Stallone generally gave you exactly what you expected, and while they both did have a few clangers, for the most part their audiences enjoyed their films.

The 1980s was a great decade for Sylvester Stallone. Rambo and its sequel. Rocky 3 was awesome and Tango and Cash is a hidden gem and I always liked Escape to Victory. It was a great decade for the guy.
@JosephMartin-sj3kz7 ай бұрын
The 1980s isn’t a “year”. It’s a DECADE & Sylvester Stallone (as he continues to do) continued to re-hatch the same material as his “Rocky” success’. Even his behind the scenes films (“Staying Alive”, f’rinstance) feature the same “root for the underdog” themes . He IS a good personality, but Sylvester Stallone is a strictly one dimensional actor. He’s always Sylvester Stallone. “Not that there’s anything wrong with that!” 🤔🙂

Most (scratch that, -- ALL) of the actors noted make movies featuring themselves as (wait for it) -- THEMSELVES! Madonna was shown in the opening, then never mentioned in the presentation. Even w/her best work (“A League Of Their Own”), she’s featured as “MADONNA!. in a the role of, well, Madonna”. She really takes advantage of us all, including her fans. But then, she DOES promise a paying crowd (damn “quality”). Woof! Also shown in the opening then not featured, John Travolta, who didn’t make A good movie in the 80s! 😐

I suppose if you were to make such a list, you got most names right. No saying that most are bad actors, but they did bad acting in the 80s. Or should we say, "lack of acting." Some beloved actors who sucked in 80s movies. A few never did learn to act even though they have a large fan base.

I wouldn't say Arnie's a great actor, but most of the roles he chose fit him very well. I can think of a couple of real clangers over his career, but overall you knew what to expect when you went to a film he was in and he really delivered. Even some of his more unusual roles like Twins mostly worked, so I don't think he should be on this list.
@yooperlooper7 ай бұрын
I agree with you on just about all of these, the worst in my opinion being Sylvester Stallone. Can't stand listening to him, he always sounds like a doofuss. Sorry fans - although I do think that some of these were so bad only because the movie itself was so horrible so the acting just had to follow along. I'm surprise that you didn't mention Marlon Brando in The Island of Dr. Moreau. After the Godfather that movie was hilarious - and not in a good way. LOL
@rodh14045 ай бұрын
I don't think any actor is universally loved. And that's ok. The big thing is do they deliver what their audience expects? And when it comes to Swartznegger and Stallone, I'd argue that for the most part, they do. You can pan an actor or even an entire film that most people love, but I don't think you should call an actor or film "bad" if theyr're successful with their intended audience.

bad actors it is not the actors who to blame but the movie the play or making .you have good actors but the play in a bad movie but arnold and Stallone have not always bad movies but they have to choose because they are actors an get pay when the make a movie oke but it is not the fault from the actor but the one that ask or saying to the actor you most playing that movie so the actor can saying oke or refuse but when an actor refuse to play in this movie an it is a succes an the other actor get a lot of money because he playing that movie but that's the way in movie land. you see hou many actors have no work or a part in the movie? because the are bad? no it is because people like you an you movie if the don't the all lose money so what happening with another movie just the same it is like the music let we saying the are willing by many young girls the buy the music to so the get pay but when the music is bad than it is not always the fault from them. sometime you have succes because you looking great or get i wrong? look to the past when the first time we seen a movie it was great but look now many good looking actors are one not young anymore or living when the time all the young grils an woman have a pictures on the wall or something. they all playing in movies some good some not so good but who's to blame the actors? sorry bad spelling an english
