What's really hilarious is that Google bought the display technology from IBM. IBM made the optics with the little wearable projection screen but the computer electronics had to be in a box in your pocket because things were still too big. IBM was smart enough to figure out "this is cool but who'd want to wear this thing" and only made some specialized prototypes for the military. (Heads-up displays ended up easier for pilots, so...)They recouped the research costs selling it to google.

Look at the label, it still has sugar listed on it BUT it also, has HFC syrup. They _never_ brought back the original. Personally, I remember the taste, it was much better!. Also, at the time, some people had cans of the original Coke saved, there were taste tests, Coke ignored those folks & the complaints slowly died off over time. You are now drinking 'New Coke'. Guess I'm in the minority, I like Comic Sans - it's one of the few fonts that renders "a" as I write it, without giving it that extra upper curve, and it's got a bit of fun that most standard fonts lack.

I remember when they brought out New Coke. I kind of liked it better. It prompted me to buy a bunch of old coke in bottles as souvenirs since they were pulling the old stuff from the shelves. Apparently, they saw Pepsi taking a chunk out of their sales and also saw that Diet Coke was their number one seller. So, they reformulated Diet Coke with High Fructose Corn Syrup and gave us New Coke. I believe that later they reformulated it again to become Coke Zero but I could be wrong. The mistake they made wasn't putting out the new Coke it was in discontinuing Old Coke. They didn't take into account the diehard fans of the stuff. Had they brought out New Coke while keeping Classic around then they'd probably have been fine. The ultimate irony is that while it was a huge flop the return of Coke Classic actually boosted the company to what it is now. So, it's quite likely that New Coke actually was the blessing in disguise.

I had a roommate who thought New Coke was an intentional disaster. He said Coke purposely released it, willing to take the hit to sales and reputation, in order to reintroduce "Old" Coke (Classic) and see grateful consumers buying truckloads of it, happy to have it back again.

I *loved* the Arch Deluxe. I worked for McDonald's at the time. Want to make your own? Potato-flour bun, peppered bacon...and Dijonnaise. That's what the secret sauce really was. Have fun bringing a good thing back - no corporate strong-arming involved. McDonald's *pizza,* on the other hand, was an epic fail.
