I think Tim Curry is a wonderful actor and an absolute legend in his own right but his version of IT just doesn't hold a candle next to Bill. A lot of that has to do with editing and costume design but this was just a very rare phenomenon where the remake was so much better in my opinion.

Super scary movie. The ending was also sort of depressing., which made it more so. I'm always interested to see these lists. I always find out new stuff. I had no idea that the monster in Cloverfield was called "Clover" as it was never mentioned in the movie. I don't generally like the "found footage" style films (not a fan of Blair Witch) but that was one I liked.

So glad to see the behemoth get the top credit for the mist. It didn't kill anyone. It didn't seem to even be aware of humans at all. It just kinda shambled in the background but the scope of it and lack of awareness made its reveal that more potent as a monster and really set up the hopelessness the characters experienced going into the story's finale. When I saw it, it made me think of being in a situation like in an Open Water movie and stranded in the ocean somewhere with no chance of rescue and just having a huge fucking whale show up and just like swim by. Like "this massive creature doesn't see me as food or a threat but could inadvertently kill me in an instant without even noticing I exist." It goes beyond being hit with own mortality. There is a serious existential implication to it. That's why I love that scene so much... and its haunting but serene sound effects on top of the atmosphere and soundtrack... The Mist is campy as fuck and most Stephen King adaptations are but that scene with the behemoth reveal stuck with me, even more than what followed.

Ahh Pitch Black. What an experience back in 2000. Back when CGI effects were still kinda new and we were all surprised when they actually looked good and real-ish 😆

Hot take: The Beldam and The Aunts from Kubo are the 2 scariest film antagonists. The settings are both warm but they are just such a big contrast and it works so well

Lists are subjective, and I'd say a good list is one that inspires conversation, and not necessarily how accurate it is. Indeed the more conversation about right vs. wrong the better the list. That said... I think a good list of "Horror Movie Monsters" Should be focused on movies with a monster, or at least one group of monsters. "The Mist" and "The Cabin in the Woods" are great monster movies, however I would not say they have "A Great Monster". For 2011 I'd nominate "The Thing". For 2007 I'd say either Michael in "Halloween" or the Vampires of "30 Days of Night". For 2003 I'd have picked either the Vampires, or the Lycans, or Michael. As always thank you so very much for the video.

i luv how the 2016 one the monster is never really seen apart from the shadow figure endusing fear without even really seeing them like with the bellwitch project

My fave will always be Quarantine (2008). I just love that movie. Just imagine being trapped in a building with zombie-infected people, trying not to get infected yourself. So creepy. Yes, i know Rec came first... lol

That movie is great but I prefer the Spanish version Rec that came out a year before Quarantine.

Nah bruh for 2019, I highly recommend the pick to be the Pale Lady from Scary Stories to Tell In The Dark. I literally wish I could have unseen her absorb Chuck in that hallway. To make matters worse, Guillermo Del Toro filmed that scene in a haunted hospital. I couldn't sleep for days knowing that she's a dream emulator XD You gotta hand it to him, Guillermo knows how to make great monsters.
