I absolutely love this idea!!! I bought similar placemats. What I did was, opened the seam to make a hole, stuffed it with filling, and just sewed back up the hole. So two placemats makes two pillows vs two placemats to make one.

When you have long candles in really short holders a good way to keep them standing up straight is to pour in some melted wax and put the candle in and let it dry, usually always works for me🤷🏻‍♀️
