I was always enraged by the many facets of the Cosby scandal, but the aspect of it that angered me the most was the fact that some of these allegations went back DECADES, the female victims were not taken seriously. Then, out of the blue, it took a male comedian making an offhand joke in a comedy club ONCE for the stories to finally come to light. He has since been released on a technicality, completely undermining the whole thing (provided that the allegations leveled against him are true). Was anyone else bothered by that, or is it just me?

Kelly meme videos on social media and they all did a creative, decent job on their stuff. Robert S. Kelly should’ve been a decent guy instead of being a defensive, controlling, abusive, perverted monster towards teenagers and 20-something-year-olds alike from the past. In 2022, R. Kelly is sentenced to 30 years in prison.

I feel for Janet- truly. She was treated abhorrently while JT got off scot-free. And Michael... the press just did him so dirty- and to this day, they still are dragging his name through the mud. And just one correction- to refer to his accusers as "victims" would have to mean they were in fact abused. And this was never proven- in fact, the opposite. It's been proven that all accusers have lied for financial gain, a fact which casts serious doubt on their allegations. Also, no child ever accused Michael of sexual abuse- the ones who came forward with allegations were the parents/adults.

I’d say a lot of these have pretty long-reaching consequences, so they shouldn’t just be swept under the rug because “the past is the past.” And it really depends on whether it was a scandal or an actual crime or miscarriage of justice. Miley’s so-called scandalous behavior from 2013 is an example of something that we can largely move on from. Miley isn’t the same person or artist anymore. But so many more are much more severe. Britney’s conservatorship came up twice. She was in it for 13 years, and is still in the midst of a legal battle with her father for his wrongdoing. The major sexual abuse cases are still very relevant, both in their own context and for their wider impact. You can see Kanye’s escalation in bad behavior and descent from someone connected to the Black community to allying with the alt-right. Almost all of these stories are a lesson that the public should learn. “Those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” That also applies to pop culture, especially as there are some prominent themes of racism, sexism, sexual abuse, bigotry, and more, BECAUSE people refuse to learn from the past.
