I bought the Iwatani for my neighbour and gave it to her for her 74th birthday just yesterday. After using an electric stove for the past 24 years, she had forgotten how fast gas is to heat up pans. She had even said that with the high BTU heat of the Iwatani, she was able to develop the crust and caramelisation on her food which was difficult to impossible on her electric hotplate, and that her food tasted better. She's used it several times already and has revitalised her love of cooking. I have already received photos of her cooking on it. I chose this model for her, as it is the least complicated, has the highest heat, is built with excellent materials, and is utilised extensively in the food industry. The magnetic lock for the gas canisters is genius, as is fitting the starter with the gas regulator dial. I'm a little jealous that I didn't order one for myself! Good thing for me, Christmas is right around the corner. I highly recommend the Iwatani. You may pay a little more for it, though in the long run, it will be worth it for the extra heat, the saving of cook time, and longevity of a well made product. Looked after, it will last a lifetime.
