A few years ago I ran 7-7 1/2 ft rods out the back of my jet shed for springers... we boats 10 springers that year on them... people sometimes get carried away with the idea that the longer the better...

Thanks for the recommendations! Got a couple TRD’s for my dad and waiting for one of the Lamiglass ones to get back in stock. Love that they are just up the road from my folks house. Going to try to find a medium light Tevala for and all around rod someday

Looking forward to meeting you later this month for the OT trip. Would love to brainstorm some content ideas that we could shoot while out there. Maybe a podcast like video where we speak on differences in PNW/Great Lakes tactics for Salmon. Spitballing ideas anyway.

Til: don't high stick and just bring the whole rod up. Are we going to get some recommended reels next? Thanks!

I could do a reel video but honestly think reels are less important. As long the drag is halfway decent you can land a King.

I have checked the main local fishing tackle stores including the NW Sportsman show and can't find a light action shimano trevala castinf/jigging rod. Called shimano the recommended ordering online through Tackle Direct. They were out of stock. I have seen some trevala rods and I do like the quality and the way they feel bu can't find the right one. Any suggestions? Thank you

I have a Goture- warrior 4pcs, 8,6inch Medium/high spinner Rod. Should/can I troll like he is in this video with that?

Do you just swap your same reels from rod to rod when trolling? If so what kind of line do you run on those reels?

I think reels are of lesser importance. I love my Shimano Tekota 300 LC and low profile Okuma Coldwaters but I also use the Okuma Convectors as a more economical choice on my wife's setups and they work fine.

any chance you can comment on your salmon trolling set up? i.e. what weight and rig are you using to drop the line down? How deep can this line get at what speed?

I am interested in the angle of your rods while trolling. I troll for bull reds about the same size as the fish you first caught in this video and haven't really developed a preference. It looks like you have something dialed in here and I'm curious about your thoughts.
@spiltmilt3 жыл бұрын
I actually prefer my rods to be out a little more so as to provide more flex and greater spread but I tend to angle them in for the camera. It does make them easier to remove from the rod holder.

does that extra length make it noticeably more difficult to net fish compared to the 7 foot trevala?
@spiltmilt2 жыл бұрын
For me it does which is why I prefer the shorter rods.

The TDR rods are offered in a 8’6” medium light (8-17lb) Do you think that would be adequate for a Kokanee rod for dropper rigs? I’m fairly new to Kokanee fishing and still building up my gear on a budget.
