I’ve been looking for an intel source on the James shad run and I’ve found it. How late in the year is too late for shad in RVA? Subbed. Nice work.

Thanks man! The support is very much appreciated!! Shad pretty much gone. Flooded with herrin and some white perch. Lot of shad getting caught out in the bay at this point. Thanks again!

Thanks for sharing those spots. Love your videos btw. What about best spots for flatheads? I have never caught a flathead and I would love to.
@ZackBostick7 ай бұрын
Right now with the water conditions , great time to target them. If you don’t make it out now, can still catch ‘em good with pinned live bait and or float rigs. Many spots don’t have a specific name but the pipeline is always a great spot that has a name!

That high wall is where the Annabel Lee was. A little way up from that wall there is another more private dock and a yacht. There are also a few more fishing spots but he will chase you off his dock. I have been chased off in my 20's more than once. 😬

gave it a shot late morning. Barometric is whack today. I didn't find anything, but I got my baitcaster dialed in for a shad spoon, so there's that. hahaha
@ZackBostick10 ай бұрын
Dailing it in for a spoon is for sure an accomplishment haha! Might have to redial to take all that wind off. I haven’t been out since the day of this video. I’ll have to get back out and see if I can grind out another! Good luck to ya man!

@@ZackBostick You too, see you on the river. Tomorrow, I'm heading to Smith Point Va (little Wicomico River/Potomac/Chesapeake Bay). Hoping some fish have found their way out of the CB Deep. Striper spawn many be on?
@nd-xx9cd10 ай бұрын
Thanks man. This is really helpful info. What time of the year do you start targeting stripers in the river? And what time of the year do you start going for Flatheads on artificials?
@TheCrispyFishGuy10 ай бұрын
I've been told it is after the first good river flood in mid to late march because that allows the flats and blues to move further up the river
@ZackBostick10 ай бұрын
No problem at all! Happy to help :) striper are here, not in huge numbers. Not to mention the resident striper. Flathead, yes, want to wait for that good rise in water. They are around all through the river but when it floods they seem to group up and hunt together. You can still catch them with different conditions but that’s what I look for!
@nd-xx9cd10 ай бұрын
Thanks man. This is helpful. I never realized it was dependent on river level rising due to spring rains. Always assumed it was more closely tied to bait.

Great video. I wonder if the shad are lower down the James River by Ft. Eustis, Newport News. Can you eat shad?
@ZackBostick10 ай бұрын
I’ll say this, they have to pass there to get here. People mostly eat the roe out of em, as far as the fish itself, not really.

I have not been fishing either! This is a good vid. I have NO issue with this. BUT... if a certain someone from a certain agency who is doing his actually job did this. People would be trying to literally fight him. 1000s of peeps down there partying, no secret. I should tell you about the time i almost got flipped in my yak at the high wall. LOL

@ZackBostick naw, I avoided a bass boat. But like an idiot, I didn't consider the reflected wave off that wall. A 2' wave hammered me and I lost gear and almost went in. Ppl laughed, it sucked!
