These pedals sound pretty cool. Between these 3 overdrive pedals, I personally liked the way huge pork and pickle the most.

Awesome pedal, yes!
@raoulselten94807 ай бұрын
my take is still, hear me out, the best way to get a good tone, erhum, is to find a pedal which sonic character appeals to you, and then, run a megaboosted completely obliterated signal into it, and see how it behaves, crank all knobs, and then reshape the curve with a graphic eq. some pedals marketed for 'low gain warmth' turn out to be firebreathing doom monsters 👀 tune low play slow ! 👾🐋

Awesome idea! Next time we’ll give that a go. 😉

Cool sounds, and you've got some nice grooves. That's a massive sound with that last pedal.

I ended up buying a jellyfish because of this video. Sounds exactly like this video in person. Only problem is it sounds so good as a preamp with the distortion below noon to ever turn it off.
@thewetterbass6 ай бұрын
Oh, then yes, never turn it off.😜 I also have the gain below noon on mine. Then I blast the Blumes almost as a clean booster into it whenever I need more dirt. This allows me to instantly get more saturation out of the Jellyfish. The sum of the crunchiness of the Blumes + the distortion from the jellyfish makes everything sound bigger and more aggressive.

Man, those really are great ones. Thank you so much for doing this! My only concern is that if I buy one, I'd enjoy it for a week, then go back to my Darkglass Vintage Microtubes. I can't get that thing off my board. 😅
@thewetterbass3 ай бұрын
If you like that vintage sound then it’s a keeper. The only reason I’d change is for a different tone or to stack drive pedals, something I enjoy doing.
@seantang897 ай бұрын
There are so so many drive pedals to choose from these days... Impossible to settle on just one for an extended period. I will dig my heels in and stick to my Origin Effects Bassrig Super Vintage as my one OD pedal but Damn, I could easily just play with these pedals all day...

No surprise on the Pork n Pickle, I loved the original Pork Loin!
@thewetterbass7 ай бұрын
I don’t know how close they are to each other sound wise. I only know the P&P is based on the Loin.
@TheoAndHisPedals7 ай бұрын
@@thewetterbassyeah it’s a (I think) modified Pork Loin on the OD and their Russian Pickle on the other side. I think the B85 Germanium Overdrive may be based on the Hudson Sidecar too, but I’m not sure about that.

Such a fun series! Now you've gotta shootout 48 more and see if anything can dethrone the Kasleder which was my #1 pick

😂 48 again? Maybe half 🤓… I’m planning of doing smaller rat and big muff shootout before. Stay tuned!!!
@DLenk7 ай бұрын
@@thewetterbass If you do a rat shootout, make sure to give the fuzzrocious cat tail a try! Oh, and the Mask Audio Civil Math (big muff) is worth a look too.

Does the 2. B85 AUDIO GERMANIUM OVERDRIVE produce (white) noise or is it quiet (no noise)? Thanks for the answer.
@thewetterbass7 ай бұрын
Like all overdrive you have some white noise the more you increase gain. It’s inevitable unless the pedal has a gate. In the case of the B85 it’s quite acceptable.
@frankketelaar27657 ай бұрын
Thanks for the quick answer. You are absolutely right. But it varies quite a bit. I tried the Earthquaker Devices Blumes this week and it was horrible.

Life got in the way a little bit but I'm back for the drive! I think the Pork and Pickle deserves its spot. It's ubiquitous and readily available and it's super consumer friendly. The B85 and the Jellyfish are definitely incredible pedals. I think in a perfect world I'll eventually get them both lol.

The last one definitely sounds the best of the lot. 💯 on overdrive pedals not needing a blend to sound good. In fact you've proven that guitar pedals 'designed' for guitar can work on bass. It opens up so many possibles if people just try things.
@thewetterbass7 ай бұрын
Yes, right? I still think that blend knobs are useful for effects that loose transients or low end for example. In other words: greatly needed to retain note definition.
@taylorhilyard86617 ай бұрын
The drive knob also has a clean blend function. More gain, more clean. It’s pretty slick.

Obvious winner in this interesting category of more or less more old-school type sounds... The Kasleder FX Jellyfish you can actually really use onstage. You can hear it instantly. Their Albatross fuzz is just as great. No surprise. They’re designed by a bassplayer.... I’m very happy to own and actually use both quite a lot. Love the beautiful Pork&Pickle too! Of course! She sits on my shelf and I love to just look at her. 🖖
