One thing I haven't quite learned about pentatonics, you said a-minor pentatonic in other positions, so if you start a-minor in "position 1" on the 5th fret (6th string), is then "position 2" on the 8th fret also a-minor? and so on for position 3, on the 10th fret, position 4 on the 12th fret, and position 5 on the 15th fret? That was never clear to me!

yes, it is! the root notes are important. I highly recommend a video by samjamguitar on youtube about minor pentatonic. he explains it perfectly, it really clicked for me afterwards

you can spend lots of time learning pentatonics or you can simply just learn 1 minor scale and 1 major scale and repeat and manipulate all the way to the last fret and make guitar learning or scales much more easy and way faster

This is basic Pentatonic guitar picking. Edward Van Halen was a master of alternate guitar picking

The Pentatonic is a 5 note scale, not a picking technique.
