One of the reasons I like MrBallen so much is that he never mocks, even gently, the hapless victims in his stories. He tries to find reasonable explanations for their choices, and never portrays them as stupid or ridiculous. I can listen and enjoy the story while empathizing with the victims and their loved ones - and not worry that the latter will be hurt, or the former's memories be tarnished.

I totally agree with this . He truly seems like a really kind guy. Also, I usually don’t find myself wanting to blame any people in these stories but there’s been a few here and there where , I don’t think they deserved the deaths they got, I think they’re horrible and I feel awful for them and their families, but they just made such bad decisions and it makes me almost angry at them because it’s like “you could’ve lived ! You could’ve survived if you just even slightly thought about your decisions before you made them ! 😩 . The last story of these 3 was one of those. Why in the hell would roof access be accessed through some tiny ass tunnel? Like ahhh! 😩 Again though, that doesn’t mean they deserved to die, especially in the many times brutal fashion they did, I just sometimes wish I could go back in time and plead with them and even slap them repeatedly to dissuade them from making the bad decision they made that cost them their lives . It’s very sad and just too bad. RIP to the poor lost people 🙌🏻

I live in San Antonio, this smoke stack is located in an area called The Pearl where people walk around and get their craft beer and sit outdoors at restaurants while kids run around a giant grass patch. They also turned an old beer distillery into a hotel and all that, very popular hotspot. I have always looked at this door hatch, which is still padlocked, and wondered what was inside. I had NO IDEA this happened. I instantly got wide eyed and had that 'oh shit i know that door!' moment.

For anyone wondering, they did slightly increase safety measures around Raptor at Cedar Point. The fence is now really tall metal bars with a spiky top and around that specific spot of the ride, there's a large rectangle of super bright lights which strobe before each time the ride zips by. It does indeed create more warning for all park goers, but for those who know why the strobes are there, it's almost like a grave site and it's a bit haunting.

Another story MrBallen told involving a missing black person also involved reluctant hotel staff and police... the police only showed up when the person's mother was "trespassing" by asking around for her missing daughter. (Although she was disturbing the hotel guests, she had no other options for searching for her child.) Who knows for sure if race had anything to do with it, and though I'm not done with all of MrBallen's stories, there seems to be a pattern emerging.

It’s actually because these events are so rare that the stories are interesting enough to put in a video. You should not be afraid to dive alone if you are an expert diver for instance simply because of some scary anecdotes. edit: people are pointing out that diving alone is actually a bad idea. My bad, I know nothing about diving, my point was just about people letting rare occurrences stop them from doing reasonably safe activities.

No matter what he didn't know or have it was too damn dark to go into that room/tunnel. And especially with no flashlight or lantern or something of a light source. At least he could have seen where the hell he was going and could have prevented himself from falling into the smoke stack in the first place. It landed inside the restricted area and the guy decided to hop the fence to retrieve it. The coaster cars came around where he was and someone's leg hit him in the head. This exact scenario almost happened to my group about 10 years ago. A guy that was with us lost his phone and wallet at six flags and after the ride we all walked around the fenced perimeter of the rollercoaster looking for the missing items, eventually we spotted them at a low point in the rollercoaster just 15 feet from the fence, the guy was adamant about just hopping the fence and grabbing it real quick. Thank goodness he listened to us and didn’t jump over because the roller coaster came by about 40 seconds later. Maybe he would’ve gotten it safely but maybe he would’ve ended up on one of these videos. The park officials actually said they couldn’t go down to retrieve it until the park closed several hours later, which was far after we were scheduled to leave, so he had to pay the park to ship his phone and wallet back to his house which took a few days, sucks but at least he didn’t get smacked by a rollercoaster 😱
