Would you be interested in a hybrid full frame camera from Panasonic?
@KimCruz16 жыл бұрын
honestly i mostly only want to see how good it is for night timelapses lol
@WhiteWulfe6 жыл бұрын
If it has low light as good as the A7 III, or even the A7S II... Ohhhh yeah. Even more so if there's an adaptor that lets you use micro-four thirds lenses on it in a kind of APS-C kind of crop, or such. Native glass will still be the main issue though, but I'm hoping for some excellent speedy primes that aren't too too expensive. Cost is going to be a factor though...
@KimCruz16 жыл бұрын
White Wulfe yeah cost is big. Honestly if they got a decent 24-70 2.8 on full frame I might just go with just that! Enough shallow depth of field and the high iso performance will be enough to make up for it not going below f2... but price.. oh the price!

If it solves the biggest gripe that most people have with panasonic cameras - AF performance - then i’m sold!

I think eventually we're going to have a camera for stills, and that should probably be a full frame, eventually, and a dedicated camera for high quality video. Considering that the new Blackmagic pocket cinema 4K coming out this month is going to for less than $1300, I think anybody interested in decent video acquisition, either for shorts, full length features etc should get it. For vlogging and travelling, I don't see why the G7 couldn't do video and still, but eventually for more serious work in still, or even more satisfying I have the feeling the world is slowly going to shift to full frame. I think Sony just showed us the way.

I wonder why my Canon t3i has so much more noise than my G7 even with a larger sensor
@KimCruz16 жыл бұрын
Jack Spade I talk about that at 0:57 but that’s all to do with age! Sensor tech gets better over time
@jacksp8de6 жыл бұрын
Kim Cruz I feel you but, the G7 looks better than the 80d in low light too, is Panasonic just better at making senors?
@KimCruz16 жыл бұрын
Jack Spade I think it’s also to do with how aggressive the noise reduction is.. Panasonic is known to be more aggressive with noise reduction and sharpening in camera... could also be the sensor but the only way to know for sure is to shoot raw and see what you get.. you won’t see it too well if it’s JPEG or movie mode..

I agree with everything you say except one thing: Don't mft cameras have worse lowlight performance because of pixel size not because of total frame size? I saw a video from Tony Northrup that said it has to do with frame size, but to me that makes no sense because the crop of a full frame camera doesn't increase the noise. I'm pretty sure it has to do with pixel density.
@KimCruz16 жыл бұрын
that's an excellent question and from what i understand it's to do with both! If we had two different sensor sizes but with the same pixel density, the larger sensor still has an advantage in terms of noise because of the total amount of light hitting the larger surface area. So basically, ff sensors have 2 advantages when it comes to high iso performance- 1. it's easier to have a low pixel density because it's bigger and 2. the total surface area increases its total light gathering capability.. from what I understand, we don't see this 2nd difference so much because ISO is measured via light per square inch. And that's why the noise on ISO 200 on m43 is the same as ISO800 on ff. basically, on m43 cameras ISO cranks it up a lot more because of the total light gathering a smaller sensor actually does (even with the same pixel density). That's the most that I know about this topic but let me defer to smarter people with more specific knowledge about this topic. I know some people trash Tony but in my experience this guy knows what he's talking about, especially with the technical nitty gritty. Here's him explaining how total light gathering works, the next 2-3 mins of that vid is worth a watch! kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqWnoKengd1ppKMm51s

Yeah that's the video I was referencing. I'm not lying when I say this kept me up one night 😂 I'm just thinking about it though. If I adapt my ef lenses on to my gh4, it requires the same iso to expose properly. The lens projects the same amount of light no matter the sensor size. I'm not trying to be stubborn.. It just goes against my logic. I saw his examples and they do look similar when it comes to noise when comparing different iso's, but did the cameras have the same pixel density?
@KimCruz16 жыл бұрын
lol i understand what you mean but also keep in mind that this is quite a complex topic with lots of other factors like how old the sensor is (old rebel cameras have worse high iso performance than m43 cameras) and even noise reduction in camera for jpegs and videos. one last thing about adapting lenses is if you use a viltrox or metabones adapter, you effectively change your crop factor (making it more APSC size) i'm guessing BECAUSE of the magnification of light. basically, it's taking light from a larger surface area (the size of an APSC camera) and then beaming it into a smaller area (m43 size) which makes up for the lost light from decreased surface area... i hope this doesn't keep you up ALL night haha

Who really needs 30MP pictures? I shoot a OM-D E-M1 Mk1, I can print really large for online I need HD quality maybe 4K in 5 year's. Now you don't need it. Post processing is a pain with large files. Come down, I want a 20MP full frame camera with 3-4 FPS good dynamic range like my OM-D with a good, not super fast AF. Something like a A7 update not going to the very best. A d this for a good price. All what we are complaining is just nerd talk. Go out and take photos.

High ISO it’s not about light hitting each pixel or whole sensor but the size of pixels on a sensor which is bigger on FF. Get your stats right before posting it on youtube
