Is full frame overrated? Let's keep it civil boys....
@lglifesgood6 жыл бұрын
Im not sure if FF is overrated, rather, people massively underrate apsc and m4/3. Its a real shame because i think those smaller manufacturers like fuji, panasonic and olympus are creating amazing cameras and pushing features you dont see in most of the bigger FF cameras

There’s a market for full frame, but the new BMPCC4k offers internal raw recording with a micro 4/3 mount for around £1100 and that’s way more quality than 90% of users actually need. So many people will be hard pressed to justify the extra cost of a full frame body, not to mention the cost of ff lenses. And then there is the extra size and weight of course.

yup! i'm just excited to see what Panasonic does for it's first act in ff territory!

Grate vib. Lots to think about when getting new gear. My lumix25mm is half the size of my 28mm apsc glass.

Hector De Jesus yup and that’s one of the biggest draws to m43 for me! Panasonic full frame may or may not be great, but I’m just interested to see if they’re able to nudge cameras forward the same way the gh4 and gh5 did!

I agree - gear doesn't matter. A friend who is in the film industry and does camera work asked what cinema camera I used for a short I created. It was shot with a humble Olympus OMD EM1. However, it does matter if you have a paid corporate gig. There is a perception that bigger and fancier is better.

Exactly Kim, great points! Story first, content is King, the technical quality needed should be in proportion to who shall be watching your content, where it shall be shown, how it relates to your story and your budget! Nothing wrong with being a camera nerd but if you are a nerd with a good story you will be in a better place as to knowing what to actually do with that fine equipment you acquired and treasure!🤣

well said and so true! one of my favorite youtubers is casey neistat and when I watch his old videos like 'bike lanes' where it's all shot on some old point and shoot... it shows you just how much you can push it having a 'technically bad' video, but still having a great message with emotional impact!

main reason I went for the 4/3 was weight and mobility, and there are some awesome bright lens available too. not sure where you get your negative thumbs down from though, since you back your case with good points, I guess not everyone likes the fact that people have an opinion!
@KimCruz16 жыл бұрын
to be fair i think some people get on youtube to feel reaffirmed or reassured of their purchasing decisions, so when they see an opinion that contradicts it, they often get sensitive about it so i just ignore it lol.. thanks for the encouragement though and i totally agree.. sometimes when I'm out with my m43 camera i complain to myself about how heavy it is.. then i just remember what a bigger camera is like and realize how lucky i already am lol...

I'm definitely curious as to how it will turn out, especially with now how it will apparently have more than 42MP, but.... Biggest question really is, at least for me... What does it bring to the table for really low light scenarios... And how dark current energy (aka long exposure noise / hot pixels) will be.. EDIT: Also curious about... - Will prime lenses from Panasonic be weather sealed this time? (most of their micro four thirds lineup of primes isn't) - What will be more iconic than the 15mm f1.7 and 42.5mm f1.2's from Panasonic? - How heavy will the glass be? - Will filter size be similar between most of the lenses? - How many lenses will they have on launch? PLeeaase have a 28/35/50mm prime setup >.>;;; - How heavy will the zooms be, what's their coverage, their f-ratio, and most importantly, will it be fixed f-ratio with parfocal lenses? (hey, one can dream, right?)

all great questions and I'm on the same boat! as for the low light i'm definiely curious about that too because I'm a bit of a nerd for astrophotography but honestly m43 hasn't been bad. also, yeah i always thought it was weird even the pana leica primes weren't weather sealed compared to the olympus pro primes, let's hope they go a different route this time! :D
@WhiteWulfe6 жыл бұрын
Can't resist... You said astrophotography and M43, so have to be all... "oooh, you like the Orion Nebula that much too eh?" Couldn't resist being silly about that part >.>;;;;; Actually, I didn't even realize there was an M43, only knew about M42 ^_^;; At the moment, I'm contemplating the idea of a modfiied GH4 for astrophotography, but that's $1,500ish CAD, so will take some contemplating before purchasing... Doubly so because it would be closer to $3k CAD, because I'd also want to pick up a reasonably small and portable telescope and a SkyGuider Pro to use with it >.>;;;;;; The one thing that does surprise me about everything though, is this... Surprisingly, we haven't seen anything regarding the rumoured G90/G95 since the initial rumours, so I wonder if that G85 body with the GH5S sensor (to compete with the Pocket Cinema 4K) was true or not...

Aps-c is the sweet spot as it appears. Don't forget you video lovers, that almost every film you like, must have probably been filmed in s35 which is very close to aps-c size sensor. So, go get yourself a Fuji, because Sony seems to always "push" their aps-c users to FF...
@KimCruz16 жыл бұрын
yeah you're right about super 35 and i think that's largely the case, especially with the xt3 out! amazing features out of a TINY camera.. i would also like to mention that ff for video makes sense now just because.. we can? processors are much faster, and as AF improves, having that shallow depth of field isn't as bothersome without a dedicated focus puller.. but yeah, definitely not necessary lol
@yttean986 жыл бұрын
It does not matter. If you want FF then get a Sony A7RII it's at a very good price NOW cos I own one.
@KimCruz16 жыл бұрын
tean tan lol!! How are the prices on those Sony lenses though?
@yttean986 жыл бұрын
Some sigma and Sony primes are reasonably priced also Canon lenses via adaptor, you are not looking at Sony GM glasses only are you? You can always buy second hand lenses as well , Sony 28mm f2 is very good easily obtainable 2nd hand, bought mine below $300. There you go. You think Panasonic glasses will be cheap no way.
