I agree with Jamel on this one. You can't expect a 6-year-old to watch another child. I can't imagine the guilt that little boy went through and may still feel to this day. Mom could have just picked the 4-year-old up and carried him the short distance to the waterfall. Or better yet, tell him he can't go on the walk without putting his shoes on first.

You have to remember this was in the early 60s. It was not just a different time it was a different world. The world today makes no sense. I was born just outside of the great smoky mountains. I was raised in the woods. After years of being taught about guns and hunting I would go out before daylight and not return until after dark. Most of the time I had taken game: squirrel, rabbit, groundhog....ect. I was 9 years old. Sometimes the only way mom knew what I was doing is when she looked into my closet my .22lr was gone....i was out hunting. I also went through a phase around 6 or 7 where I refused to ware shoes. Hot asphalt, frozen dirt, wet mud, sharp gravel.....it didn't matter I wasn't wearing shoes.

@@roger5322 Lots of things were different in the 60’s, but were still horrible ideas. More people back then thought smoking was okay, and that “certain people” (e.g., minorities) should have less rights than others. Same can be said about how people watched their kids. The “different time” only shows that many did not know, nor wanted to know, better back then. Things aren’t the best now, but the “good ol’ days” of the 60’s was way worse for a lot of us (e.g., including for women/black and minority women and kids), but I know not everyone thinks that is a bad thing. At least now, people are not as naive in understanding how bad things can go when your little children are out there without closer adult supervision. The buck stops at the adult who decided to have the children.

@@MerriChristi ok they is a lot of trash to unpack here. So let's start with it being different times. Yes they are but in some ways they are the same. Back then parents taught their kids to respect people. Today's kids are raised by the school or the streets. Neither are good parents. Back then we thought smoking was ok. Nowadays people think surgically altering a child's sex is ok. Not having a farther in the house is a good thing. It's not. I was raised by a single mother raising two kids working at the 7-11. My first run in with the law I was 9. Had many more after that. By the time I was 15 I had been convicted of attempted 1st degree murder, interstate transportation of stolen property, grand theft auto, arson, B&E any way you get the idea. Black or white a farther is needed. I had several friends that was black I had one that was Hispanic. I didn't care about the color of your skin I cared about what kind of person you was. They were black assholes, they was white assholes. I don't hang out with neither. And it wasn't because of the color of their skin. Back then we was taught not to talk to strangers, respect others, do unto others as you would have them do to you. Don't run with knives, look both ways before crossing a road. Today as a white male I am 1) entitled ( I grew up poor so I missed out on that entitlement) 2) because of the color of my skin I'm am racist ( blacks because of the color of their skin can not be racist) 3) as a man I have no value except to pay a woman what she is entitled to. Even though I have no say in it. Yes we were " free range kids" but sometimes you have to let a kid fall bit teach him to get up and brush yourself off and keep going. In a lot of ways the world today is way more fucked up.

The world's always been this bad just most disappearances after little to no investigation we're decided the person ran off to start a new life. the reason we are more aware of how bad the world is now then compared to how aware we were in the 60's is because of things like the Internet where when something goes down you can see stuff the moment it happens. You just couldn't see all the loon's before because of your rose colored 60's shade's and everyone didn't have a video camera in there pocket

When I was a kid playing in my front yard in the winter, I remember being VERY cold. It was in Mass. And then I remember feeling VERY warm, and laid down in the snow and just wanted to go to sleep. I felt SO cozy warm. Then I heard my Dad banging on the window trying to get me up. He finally had to come out and pick me up and bring me in. THAT was hypothermia. I just felt SO WARM!

Jamel, I totally agree. Kids should never be expected to be responsible for their siblings. Parents must keep track of their kids. Little ones can wander off in a split second and it doesn't take much for a predator (human or animal) to snatch them away. Also, why did little Bobby have no shoes on during a hike? That seems weird!

Paradoxical undressing is when people freezing to death will start to feel too hot and strip their clothes off, sometimes to nakedness, then die of exposure. Its not common to remove only shoes and socks. But it is a common point in the Missing 411 cases. People suddenly running off into the woods and disappearing is also not uncommon. In some cases people saw the person run off or step off into the woods mere feet away, and that person was never see again despite several days searching with hundreds of people. A warning now, Mr.Ballen videos are addictive. And there is a plethora or Missing 411 cases and some of them make absolutely no sense.

Story 1 - I'm very sus of the parents in this one. What if they did something and used this excuse to cover it. Just a theory. Story 2 - Not sure what happened here but those headlights could have been from a snow mobile or something similar. Story 3 - just sad. I'm stumped on this one. So glad your staying so consistent with the MrBallen rabbit hole. Keep it up bro.

Agree with those possible explanations. I tried watching the show "Missing 411" and think all the stories sound sus. There would be numerous possible explanations in each case that were never discussed. I only watched a few episodes because the "investigative" methods were not very scientific, there were many holes left in the stories, and many unanswered questions that would be addressed in a more intelligent investigation. This opinion is coming from a person who follows a lot of true crime. 😁 It's interesting watching the response of other people though and seeing how we all tick differently.

Parents leaving their kids to watch their other kids just irks me. I was born in 1992. My biological mother used to leave me on regular basis in her apartment with my 3 year old half sister, 4 year half sister, and 6 year old half brother while she was at work. Or for the weekend while she was out clubbing drinking and doing drugs. She would be gone for days at a time. And that's the times where she would actually leave me with someone. Sometimes she would just leave me by myself while she was at work. Thankfully I got removed her care and put in foster care twice and was adopted when I was 5. It took me a long time to get over my fear of being left alone for more than a few hours.

It made me laugh and reminded me of my time up climbing Mt Shasta . We had been at the Staple Centre ( great local crew ) with a show and had a break , instead of going home to the UK i went up and stayed with a friend in Redding Cal , i had my winter kit stashed in the bottom of my road case so was all set to climb . We went to the Ranger station to get my permit , the Ranger turned to Bryan ( my American friend ) looked me up and down and said to him " Are you sure " , me being a skinny little Englishman , Bryan responded yes he does this stuff all the time . So i got dropped off at the trail head on the north side of the mountain , Mt Shasta is just over 14,000ft , with two rucsacs a large one on the back and a small one on the front i was about to plod up the trail when Bryan said , " i suppose i should have given you a gun for the bears and mountain lions " , then he jumped into his truck and disappeared off down the mountain . Well he planted a seed in my head , we dont have anything other than cows to worry about back home , i set up camp just above the tree line planning to do the HB route , night started falling and my mind started racing , remembering a story from other Americans about how the bears smell your food cooking i decide against cooking so i just ate my trail mix with m&ms , i got darker and i got more nervous , every time i heard a sound in the pitch dark i banged my pan with an ice axe then scanned the trees with my head torch for reflected eyes , basically thats how my whole night went , at 3am i had had enough and packed my climbing bag and went for the top . We had agreed a pick up time around seven the next evening , i was down and packed and waiting for my ride back , i heard in the distance coyotes , and at the trail head is a small shed , i got inside and waited for Bryan , he eventually showed up and i recounted my nights tail , which was met with howling laughter and much amusement , he knew damn well the psychological torture that comment about a gun would cause to a skinny little Englishman , and i have to say if the roles had been reversed i certainly would have done the same .

Oh no, for one, the first story, they went to a camping ground and decided to see a waterfall, however, the path was overgrown with taller grass, common sense tells me that means NOBODY is maintaining the path, that also means NO ENTRANCE it is not safe! We would not have entered! We've been camping before many times in Yosemite, Big Bear Lake and June Lake, we stayed on fully occupied camping sites, we stayed in fully occupied hiking paths that are maintained regularly. That was a sad story, the little boy was lost all of a sudden! As for those guys that went to the mountain, they were naive enough to go to a mountain that is known to be wild, they didn't bother bringing extra food and necessary equipment for those 'just in case' situations. I believe James Jr. may have died of hyperthermia as you mentioned because he was already delirious as it was his temperature may have risen to the point where he would feel the need to remove his shoes or clothing if that and eventually die of hyperthermia. That is my guess at least. All of these people went into unfamiliar remote and wild areas unprepared for any sort of camping or hiking or hunting experience. I think had they had enough common sense to go into these areas with the proper equipment, food supplies and appropriate clothing their camping experience may have turned out different! Going into those areas unprepared as they all did, that is what will happen. This does not happen to everyone who goes camping, this happens to those who do not use their common sense and do not go prepared. That's is the difference Jamel, no other reason to not go camping. Enjoyed your reaction! ☮💕👍👏

Not saying it's right or that she wasn't irresponsible, but the mom in the first story is very typical of parenting pre-90s. I was allowed to ride my bike for several miles around our house by the time I was 10, and my parents would leave me in charge of my siblings when they went out once my younger sister was potty trained when I was about 11-12. It was what it was, and most people did it; it was a different time. Stuff like that story eventually taught us that the world was changing, especially when it happened around homes more and more, and now most parents are much more protective.

Many are really secluded areas where a number of human predators like child abductors, rapists, and murderers have been living out of reach of the police for years. You think when visiting that there’s nobody around when in fact they know how to hide quietly watching you. That’s why you hear people say they feel like they’re being watched when they’re out in the middle of nowhere. Too many evil crazies and a lot of them are in the vast forests, national parks and woodlands of the world. Camping should be safe and fun but unfortunately it’s too dangerous now. Especially if you bring your kids.

Hypothermia coupled with cold madness. (hypothermia as well as heat stroke causing hallucinations). When exposure to cold is a lot (even with clothes for the cold), the person gets hypothermia, as the person's health condition worsens, they will start to have slow thinking to the point that they no longer have it , and unfortunately this is where the end comes In a very advanced state of hypothermia the reasoning stops completely the person no longer knows what he is doing and looks like a "zombie" (at this moment the person also suffers from cold madness), takes off his clothes or part of the clothes because due to the feeling of false heat due to hypothermia and shortly afterwards it dies.

That first one made me mad. Don't EVER leave any of your kids alone ANYWHERE, especially out in the woods! Doesn't matter if you're only gone for a few minutes! Doesn't matter if they're sitting on a road! It's the WOODS! There are things out there that will GET YOU! The second story made me think. There's only one thing I can think of when it comes to strange lights in the woods, and that's the old myth of the Will-o'-the-wisps. They're evil fairy light creatures that lead lost people further and further into the wilderness away from civilization so that they're never heard from again. James was lucky he found that lodge, or else he'd end up like his son, who I'm CONVINCED were chasing the same kind of lights in another direction. There's also stories about phantom voices of evil creatures that lure you out into the middle of the woods or the middle of nowhere using either familiar voices, like those of your parents or friends, or they use voices of children who say they're lost or simply the crying of a baby, which makes the victim try to go save the poor child, but there's no child. There never is. Just death. And the third story, well, that's just Sasquatch, Bigfoot, whatever you want to call it. Big footprints, big bodyprint, stealthy AF, and there are stories from Colonial days of hairy men of the woods kidnapping settler children in the wilds of Canada and in the Western areas of places like Montana and well anywhere like that. Those places were covered in trees back then. And the Native Americans have, for centuries, told stories of the wild men of the forest coming into their villages and kidnapping their women and children for food. They did this so much, there was a famous story from the Payute tribe that they had gone to the wild giants cave and set a fire at the entrance, either to smoke them out, or to let them suffocate inside. They suffocated. And hundreds of years later, some guys went inside to get bat poop AKA guano for fertilizer and under feet of the stuff they found HUGE skeletons of giant "people". Makes you wonder if those giant skeletons people kept finding in the 1800s were all Bigfoots.

The first story was probably a Bald Eagle who took the boy. They live in those places, and they could also easily keep an eye on when the boy was alone and then strike very quickly.

Except eagles maximum load capacity is 12 lbs, and even that is rare. The average is 4-7 lbs. I'd be more suspicious of the parents and would think they would be interrogated. It's almost always people closest to the victim.

@@Brainly-Brian I'd actually love to see that! I only looked up those facts after I got a small dog. I always had big dogs. When I heard eagles and hawks could snatch them up, I had to check it out. I did have a friend tell me he saw a hawk grab his Miniature Pinscher while he was on his deck. He said the Hawk struggled and fell to the ground. He said if not for that, he couldn't have saved him because it happened so fast! 😳

About 3-5 years ago a little two year old boy disappeared out of his yard in eastern Kentucky. It was spring, we get a lot of rain that makes underbrush and trees turn green fast. We get a lot of rain. The searchers came out. They searched for over 48 hours, no one thought a child that age could get far. This area is mountains. Finally the state police call for an end of search. I didn't hear anyone say but I think they thought the parents had done something to him. The searchers continued. They called in a tracker. It was cold at night. I thought this will be a recovery not rescue. Finally an EMS group went into an area they hadn't covered. They found him. He had lost a shoe. God had to be looking after that child. Where they found him had a cliff so many yards away from him. He was sitting on the ground. He wasn't but about a mile from home. In the rough terrain it was a miracle that they found him. He had a few scratches but was okay. They cleared off a spot that a chopper could land and brought him out. Every time I think about that baby by himself in the dark, two nights in a row makes me think even more that there is a God. Some people away from here don't realize how he wasn't farther away from home and not be found. The chopper had flown over looking but with a thick green underbrush and the trees it was hard to see with him being so little.

Most people don't realize how long 2 minutes really is. Set a timer for 2 minutes and start walking, or just do something, and see how far you get in 2 minutes. IF someone was watching that family, looking for a way to abduct that 4 year old, and they followed the Mom and kids down the overgrown logging road, it's EXTREMELY possible for someone to grab that kid, hide with him until Mom and the boys went back to their campsite, then hotfoot it 2 miles up the road with him. Whatever happened after THAT, who knows..

Refusing medical attention before finding your son is not at all helpful. If you tried to assist the search, you may collapse. There are too many things that could happen that while he lost his son, if the son were alive, he could've lost his father.

If I go camping it is going to be in a camper with a great security system. I am not going to be a human egg roll for some bear or a psycho. I have camped at a well staffed campground that was on cape cod by the ocean. I wasn't in the forest with a higher amount of wildlife.

When it hit night time it was pitch black and scary. It could be anything in these forests because us as man have not searched every square inch of it.

Yea I tell my kids who have children now. I tell them be careful. All you have to do is turn your back for a second and your child is gone. Always be aware of your surroundings. There are to many people interested in these kids that you have to keep them in sight at all times. It’s sad that people will take your child and hurt them. But it’s true . This is the world we live in.

Honestly, considering the animal theories they had, Sasquatch would not be all that dumb. I mean, I personally think that if such a species exists, it would have to be fairly docile, and probably herbivorous, or there would be no way it could avoid detection and irrefutable scientific documentation, so grabbing a kid would seem odd to me, unless it was confused and thought the kid was its offspring.

That 1st story is bs. You don't leave your younger children to take your older child somewhere. Why didn't they go back to get shoes or leave the child? Or why didn't her husband go with her? All of it is ridiculously! And you are very right...Your children are your responsibility, not your small children's.

I started babysitting my little sister (later my baby sister) when I was like 6 or 7, but we never left the house, wouldn’t even go play basketball with my friends. By the time I was in middle school I’d take them to the community pool, or movies, but it was a safe neighborhood. I don’t think it’s that weird, but it definitely depends on the kids. It was drilled hard in my head that I was the big brother and what I could and could not be trusted to do. Ones in her 30s and a mom now, the other is in her late 20s and about to get married. It turned out ok.

I never left my children in charge of making sure they’re safe or protected. I protected my children. If something odd happens, what ? you expect a 9 year old to make good decisions? And I don’t believe the “ I turned around for a minute. “ bull crap. That’s as believable as when someone is stopped for drinking, and when asked how many they’ve had it’s always “ 2 beers.” I’m not buying that .

Bigfoot probably took the child.. Juneau, Ak, glacier I ran off from my parents on the trail 👣 to play at a creek. I went off trail so I could make leaf boats when something shook the tree behind me. I didn't think, I ran. It ran after me, it seemed that it hopped to tree to tree and herded me in the direction it wanted. I popped out of the bushes in front of my parents and they said ' oh, Kay, we were just calling for u.'

( 1 ) leaving a small child to watch another is crazy but in the woods . She was 10 feet she should have carried him or put his shies on before leaving toward the waterfall. ( 2 ) that was an unsolved mystery . James was bless to find the cabin. I know he is filled with all kind of what if thoughts . That dog was worthless . ( 3 ) when I was a teen I remember campers said they saw this hairy creature and took pictures of it. The picture were Blurred because of movement . It was an on going story in the news paper . They did a sketch from description. A big hairy looking man . I'll always remember that. Until this day I've never wanted to go to the Everglades .
