Your channel happened to show up on my KZbin page (the video about the flaws in Rings of Power. After watching that, the one about what is killing SF, and a few others I just had to write to thank you for the thought and effort you clearly put into them. I watch several film-oriented channels but have never come across one that has your unique perspective. The videos are fascinating and really useful. Hello handsome man, I can't believe Stranger in a Strange Land didn't make it to this list. First time I realized Christianity practiced cannibalism, and how that isn't necessarily a bad thing 😅

Heinlein is my favorite. The moon is a harsh mistress is my favorite. But yes stranger is a good belief challenging book. Also Job a comedy of justice

To my great shame, I haven't read it yet. I'll add it to my list. I have complicated relationships with Heinlein, to be honest. He's a bit too heavy-handed for my taste. I did enjoy "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress", but "Starship Troopers" and "Time Enough for Love" were disappointing and at times annoyed me.

@@BookFurnace I'm actually writing a book a lot like it, even though I am a Christian. And then I have another book series I'm working on that is about all ancient religions and ancient history as a whole.

Maybe "Hard to Be a God" by Strugatsky brothers. I haven't read it yet, embarrassingly, but it has related themes.
