Don't know if that's the kind of country playing your looking for, but you could check out Jerry Reed. Great guitarist of country music! Also check out waylon jennings, you wouldn't say he's a great player, but he has a really unique and nice style and he's got that twang!

Just listen to Merle Haggard,Alan Jackson, Dwight Yokum, George Strait, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams Sr, Modern country I dig is Brooks and Dunn, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban… I haven’t keep with country past 2010,2011.

In hybrid picking, do most players use their fingernails on the finger picking part, or can you do it with your fingertips? I don’t like growing long fingernails because they get in my way of doing everyday things.

You can definitely just use finger tips. You have to snap them a little bit...or you can softly finger pick too....for a softer less chicken sound. Tele will respond to you touch.
