What jimmys my jangles when starting a new army is buying it, having it sit in its box and watch me buy more armies for my pile of shame I’m also never going to paint

That paint scheme is amazing - and yep, made me feel ill. I love buying a new box, building the pieces, then spending the time looking at the box art, other sources and deciding how to make it my own. My Thousand Sons Rubric Marines also have had skulls incorporated into their armour/weapons, gotta show off the results of their actions.

I love the lore of the hobby, when starting a new force I get very excited to think about their place in the universe. All of my armies have a story and through those stories I get their sub themes and guidance on what tactics I should be building my lists to support. I dont always feel the need to base my color scheme on the "traditional" guidelines of the factions I base my armies on. I tend to pick what I find interesting when painted to a tabletop standard, and whats effective to replicate. This video has me very excited about this scheme and may have been the final push I needed to start a Nids list.
@morewarhammer2 ай бұрын
I love that too. That’s the only thing I do overly like about the nids. Their lack of personality is a bit of a bummer but you can create a cool narrative around their hive fleet which is cool. Thank you so much for the comment and the support you legend.

I swore I was watching a guy with a huge subscriber count, then you saying 5 thousand (now 6 thousand) subs. It is insane how good quality your vids are and I am definitely going to keep following even though I know nothing about Warhammer, but enjoying how cool these minis are! Also as an American this is the first time I heard the term Rattle can and I am going adopt that term now for spray cans.

That Tyranid looks disgusting and terrifying, I love it! I love hobbying and kitbashing, and I think my favorite part of starting a new army is finding ways to include custom bits or parts from other kits to make the new project really feel like my own, and plan how to do so in a consistent manner across the whole army.

@@morewarhammer Thanks man! I’m not sure how choosing an army works, or if how you paint them matters in game. I hear people talk about painting their minis to match certain factions, but does that give different abilities, or is it just cosmetic? Keep up the great content!

Very awesome! A buddy and I split the Leviathan box set and went with Tyranids myself. Being completely new to Warhammer, bought a small range of different bugs to go with the Invasion Fleet detachment to get an easier feel for the game and army rules. Having a blast with it so far.

Awesome video dude, love the colour scheme! For my jangles it’s all about creating something unique coming up with the paint scheme, the theme, put that together on the models and writing a bit of lore. Big fan of zenithal undercoat, then metallics and some contrasts easy to work with and makes my average painting ability look so much better!
@morewarhammer2 ай бұрын
Firstly, great use the term jangles 🤌🏻. The zenithal approach really can make the painting aspect more appealing and less overwhelming can’t it. I do love creating my own lore too. What are you working on at the moment?

I like to do a mixture of both since Crusher Stampede and Swarm detachments aren’t great competitively and Invasion Fleet doesn’t discriminate against specific models. In other words go with “rule of cool.”

I think the Rule of cool shall prevail. I do love the variety that comes with the nids. Do you play them mixed yourself?

I do run them mixed. Currently running a Swarmy, tyrant guard, Haruspex, tyrannofex w/ rupture, psychophage, cannon, 2 x20 termagants, 2x 10 Hormagaunts, 1x3 von Ryan’s, deathleaper, 1x6 zoanthropes, winged tyranid prime, neurotyrant, mawloc and 1x3 venomthropes. So a nice balance between the two.

Some tips from a poor soul that’s been collecting and painting the same guard color scheme for almost 20 years: - Paint a complete miniature first and make sure you love the scheme - Use techniques that you won’t mind repeating 1000 times. If it’s not enjoyable the first time you do it, it certainly will not be enjoyable the 500th time. - buy and store unopened paint bottles for your scheme. Paint companies change their recipes and discontinue paints all the time (RIP Devlan mud). That way, if you need to add new models down the road, you have those unopened paints. - Get an airbrush and compressor with tank. It will save you hundreds of dollars/pounds and thousands of hours. - Paint an army that you love seeing on the table. That gives you joy to play even if it always loses matches. Don’t buy models because they are powerful, buy them because you love the way they look

A little unclear as to whether jimmy jangling is a positive, negative, or context specific experience. Anyway, assuming a jimmy jangling is good it's the excitement of getting into the whole process, really, but cracking open the box and assembling the models I think is the high point until I start seeing finished, painted models start to come together. At that point, the feeling builds and gives me motivation to keep going. And assuming a jimmy jangling is bad, it's the cost of this hobby (which, yeah, it is what it is really) and the fact that I can occasionally get hyper-focused on the acquiring stage and end up with a lot of unbuilt kits.
@morewarhammer2 ай бұрын
