My personal Top 30 adventures Dungeons & Dragons, across multiple editions. Adventures considered come from official, licensed, and magazine sources.
Remember, lists of this particular nature are subjective. This run-down is my own personal views based on my experiences mostly DMing, but sometimes playing, these adventures. Your mileage may vary. Where subjective views are concerned - I am not wrong, and neither are you.

A very interesting take on some popular modules. I ask myself "should I look at these ,in depth,( and spoil it as to wanting to play these as a player) or study them for my personal campaign setting) I am now DMing efforts?" I started on my D&D journey when an older cousin provided a bored 12 year old from the late 70's with a whole new world. Kitteh seems to be playing along with you and your young friend. Endearing! Plus the looks on your faces says it all!

Most are old enough to be way beyond spoilers - but all are worthy a look to for inspiration. As for our cat - I think she should have her own character sheet by now!

Against the Cult of the Reptile God is my absolute favorite game module of all time. It has a bit of everything: town adventure, outdoor excursion and dungeon exploration. The snake cult theme in it reminds me of the movie Conan the Barbarian. In fact, the overall theme of CoRG would work very well in a Hyborean Age setting. I often considered expanding the plot of the module to encompass Thulsa Doom and his snake cult religion.

Huge fan of this module. There is some work to be done by the DM to make it all slide together and I usually bring in characters that have already been on at least one adventure. I've played and Dmed it twice and it has always worked out for us. In Contrast I played Assassins Knot once and we did so poorly we had to exit the Lendore Islands. I do want to try to DM it.

The Halls of Tizune Thane! I played that with AD&D 1e back when I got the Best of White Dwarf, maybe 1980 or so? Did it again in 3e twenty years later because it is, as you say, a great low-level scenario.

Feast of Goblyns was definitely my favorite adventure to run. Another one I’m surprised you might not have touched in this series was Tomb of Annihilation even as a nod.

Maybe if I'd done an honourable mention list... but it still might still not have got in there. Of the 5E WotC ones - granted, its better than most. However, it suffers from many of the issues inherent with those 5E books - railroads that are mostly filler with little substance. A bit less of the railroading in ToA, though!

Hey Willy, I like much of what you say in your videos. E.g. your emphasis that this list is subjective, and e.g. how you said exactly what you meant with the phrase "without further rambling" instead of the cliche "without further ado". :)

Hey Ian, why do you call your channel "Willy Muffin"? Also, please make a top 10 module video soon, so we can hear more of your advice on what to buy, because the DriveThruRPG/DM'sGuild sale ends in 6 days.

Well... I am a musician, and play in a band. A while ago, I started tinkering with home recording, for getting at least demos of my songs down and learning about recording processes and techniques. To keep that separate from the stuff the band does, I called that solo recording project "Willy Muffin and the Bootcut Bluejeans" - "Willy" because every other blues, country, and jazz musician seems to be called Willy; "Muffin" for a pinch of mildly rude comedy that chases "Willy"; "and the Bootcut Bluejeans" because naming a solo effort as if it was a group of people tickles my sense of humour, and the guitarist from the band I'm in likes to take the piss for me wearing bootcut jeans. As you can see, the channel is a mixture of all sorts - gaming, music, and anything else that comes to my mind. I set it up originally for music, but it's turned into something for all of my various hobbies and interests. So... that is why the channel is called Willy Muffin. I bet you're glad you asked, now ;)

I Like Ravenloft but not an acolyte of the world? follow ups? Campaign?
@WillyMuffinUK
@WillyMuffinUK 2 жыл бұрын
I think Ravenloft works as a one-off. Or, if enough work is put in to fix things, as an I6/I10 combo. The campaign setting was a mixed bag to me - love some aspects of it, cringe at others. Did have a lot of fun with some of it, though - but again, as one-offs or part of a broader non-Ravenloft campaign.

Hate the Slave Lord Series. Didn't mind the scenario where you are dropped in the dungeon with nothing but it was an eventual TPK. Ho Hum.

@biffstrong1079
@biffstrong1079 Жыл бұрын
@@ronniejdio9411 I'll take a look. We did drop in I guess it was the Finale. As I say I liked the module but then we ended up against the final big bads with no actual history or knowledge and got fried. Maybe better if you work your way through the first two and learn more about them? Still feels like they slip through your hands if they have to be around for the finale which is a pretty plot armoured railroad which I am not keen on.
@ronniejdio9411
@ronniejdio9411 Жыл бұрын
@Biff Strong I like the idea of being captured ans turned loose in t h e caverns naked and weapons less. I hate it as the finale to this run. I've ran it 3 times anndi think I solved it. I switch the stockade module to the finale and shot can the island one. Whoever survives those first two thenparty has historybwith and can have a giant assault final battle in the module after the sneaking around. Also I like have the blind fire proof slave lord in the final battle he's great. Just gotta drop appearances if him in through the modules
