She's technically a squid because she can squirt ink before she turned herself into a giant. The animators know that she is based on an octopus but because of the animation costs, she was officially turned into a squid, not an octopus. Even Pat Carroll herself explained this to kids.

They should also put Demona from Gargoyles on that list. I was disappointed to see that she wasn't on this list until I realized this list focused on movie female villains. Demona is one of my favorite villains and one of Disney's most complex villains, in my opinion.

100% Pat's bombastic, sinister, intelligent performance as Ursula is IMO the best thing in the film! I love the fact they got a fabulous plus-sized Black woman to play the character in The Villains Lair YT miniseries (see Pattycake Productions), as I thought her energy levels and vocal chops were way, WAY more true to the original than Melissa McCarthy's half-assed rendition in the Disney live action remake? If you enjoy Ursula, do go check out the awesome "Rolling in the deep" Adele parody on Whitney Avalon's YT channel... Alyssa Preston has the vibe and the amazing voice down pat, in a really amusing and enjoyable interpretation combining Alyssa as Ursula & Whitney as Vanessa (her magical alter ego)!

Well technically Shensi, Helga, Aunt Sarah, Calypso, Xianniang, Te Ka, Kaa, and Louise were side-villains (Of course Xianniang wasn't in the old Mulan and in the old Jungle Book Kaa was a male) but the main villains in those movies were Scar, Rork, Si and Am, Davy Jones, Xian Yu, Tamatoa, Sher-Kahn and Mr Sir.

Disney's early movies really are tonally pretty schizophrenic at times, aren't they! The 'lovey-dovey' parts are super-cheesy & twee, but then my goodness the climactic villain battles can really be super-dark... Sleeping Beauty in particular. That very dark edge to the final battles continued in later films too, with Beauty & Beast, Little Mermaid, and Hunckback.

I have to 100% disagree about aunt Sarah. She wasn't a villain. She was just a cat person and at the end when she found out tramp was protecting the baby she welcomed him by sending the family a huge box of dog treats. Plus it was a different era...and some people are not dog lovers.
