It's sad to think the voice actor who played Mozenrath committed suicide. Just read he was depressed because he felt his career was waning. I think if he were still alive today, he could have gone into more VA and would have been up there as one of the Steve Blums, Johnny Yong Boschs, and Vic Mignognas. He definitely had the voice, and every line he delivered as Mozenrath sounded like he had so much fun, and put so much effort and passion into it.

For some reason this character was so unique in the entire Aladdin series, I’m surprised he did not feature in a movie. However, I am actually hoping that Disney will make a final Aladdin movie where all the turmoil finally comes to an end. Something along the lines of Aladdin and Jasmine are married and now Aladdin is the young new Sultan. I think they are going to tone down Villian Frollo's classic "Hellfire" song or dismiss it completely out of the movie because of the lyrics of Lust towards Esmerelda. The work that JB did as a child to change his East Coast accent resulted in absolutely perfect diction (every word is clear.) Little did he know then that his most-seen character would be "seaQuest's" Lucas Wolenczak, who was from New York. Working in a booth was a little difficult for him, because he was also a physical actor, did a lot of work with his expressions (his eyes,) silence, and body movements, all taken away when you do voice-overs - which he'd done before in ADR, but usually only a few lines at a time, and usually for characters that were off-screen or secondary (at the beginning of "Pet Sematary", for example.) He was certain after the first audition that he'd blown the gig, and had gotten little direction (as if the voice directors were only auditioning him because someone had told them they had to.) Little did he know that he'd nailed it (particularly the evil laugh.) When he was 16 or so, he'd auditioned to do over-dubbing work for a Japanese animation project, and the director told him he wasn't "suitable for a main character in animation." Yeah, right.

I respectfully disagree. For the record I have nothing against Johnathan Brandeis especially given his tragic death. However a couple times I felt he was straight up reading his lines instead of acting. Jeff Bennett I thought sounded much more natural but that could be just Jeff Bennett just had much more experience voice acting than Johnathan Brandis did when they worked on this show. I mean besides Mosenwrath Brandis didn’t really do much voice acting and I think it’s a real shame we lost a talented man at such a young age.

@@hodarinundu it was couple like reads like during number one where he says “I could’ve said it better myself”, and some lines from mosenrath’s earlier episodes. Though that could be attributed to Brandeis’s inexperience in voice over, maybe they went with bad takes, or a few reads could’ve been a bit of time crunch thing to get the episodes out, or maybe I’m just bias because I thought Jeff Bennett’s vocal performance more suited Mosenwrath as he played Mosenwratj when Brandeis wasn’t available. Overall I didn’t think he did a bad job especially given his inexperience and frankly it could’ve been worse. Like I said before I have nothing against Brandeis both as an actor or a person and it’s a real shame we lost him at such a young age.

I like Mozenrath a lot, and I love the Lucas Star Ward movies (that is, I to VI), but I really don't like Kylo of the Disney sequels so yeah, that's why I don't like it when Mozenrath gets that comparison :B Let's face it, Mozenrath is also a whiny brat with power hunger and delusions of grandeur.... Actually Jonathan Brandis didn't die until towards the end of 2003 and the 3rd Aladdin film came out in 1996, They didn't use Mozenrath because, The Aladdin team felt they should steer away from the tv show and they weren't able to get in contact with Jonathan Brandis, which is why they went with Aladdin's dad instead.

*Didn't really see/hear much of Jonathan Brandis after Neverending Story 2,* Really? He did *Lady Bugs* (with Rodney Dangerfield) and *Sidekicks* (with Chuck Norris) immediately afterward. Both movies were popular on home video. Many '90s kids, including yours truly, grew up on them. He was also in Steven Spielberg's sci-fi series *seaQuest DSV,' which really elevated/cemented his teen idol status. I remember when the show premiered in the fall of '93 (betwixt the release of *Jurassic Park* and *Schindler's List* the same year) it was a major television event because of Spielberg's involvement.

you know whats really interesting about him is that he is supposed to be Aladdin's older brother. They had planned to make an episode reveiling this but the series was cancelled before thay could make it.

This has been refuted by one of the shows crestors IIRC. He was never meant to be Aladdin's brother or the villain in the third movie- these were apparently rumors that caught on and got perpetuated for years. He was only meant to be Aladdin's foil.

That last quote is always my favorite lol. But on another note, since Disney is making a live action movie about Genie, they'll inevitably end up making one about Aladdin since remaking stuff seems to be on their agenda if Cinderella, Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast are anything to go by. Also, Jungle Book is getting a sequel. It was actually announced before Jungle Book had even hit theatres. So if the Genie movie is a success (which it probably will be), I can see them proceeding with an Aladdin movie followed by a sequel where they can finally use Mozenrath as the main villain. :D I really hope they do this as well as them making sure to credit Jonathan Brandis at the end for doing a superb job for previously voicing Mozenrath.

Guess what I'll be doing instead tho, making videos of Mozenrath for people to see! ;) and some vids of the awesome Aladdin series. It's crazy how underrated Mozenrath is. When he's one of the best and hottest Disney bad guys. 💖 Even his videos on KZbin can take a while to get views. Must be also why I seem to at least be having a hard time getting views right now on the new Mozenrath video I made and just posted.. :( He's literally one of the very best Disney villains. And he's hot! 😍 lmao Honestly I'm not the biggest fan of most of the regular Disney villains that everyone knows about from the movies, but the ones I love so far are some of the underrated ones from the shows- that Disney mostly ignores! For some stupid reason. Seriously my two favorite Disney villains and bad guys in general are both from two old good Disney animated series (from the Disney Afternoon), not even from the Disney movies. And the only way I found out about them was from my friends because Disney doesn't really pay attention to them. I don't understand them ignoring the best characters and giving all the attention to the not as good characters... Wish Disney would care more about their old awesome cartoon series too. I made a new compilation vid of Mozenrath with a few clearer clips too; he needs more attention as a character. And maybe I could make some more of him and other characters from the Aladdin series also.

yeah. the origional plot for the third movie was that aladdin was going to find out that mozenrath was his long lost brother, but they thought it would conflict with the series, so they focused on a different relative, his dad.

Well Aladdin may have had trouble keeping the lamp, but it wasn't -that- challenging to get it in the first place. Really he just strolled into the cave and took it. And if it hadn't of been for Abu grabbing the gem he would have escaped without a scratch. Mozenrath's main point is that he had to sacrifice his hand (and more) for the gauntlet, while Aladdin keeps the genie's lamp (an equal or greater artifact) without any horrible downsides.

Mozenrath was the shit back in the day x) It's so sad, I can't find many of the good old shows like the Aladdin epsiodes, original Digimon and Pokémon, Xialin showdown, Tarzan, Hercules, Jackie Chan, the Little Mermaid, etc.... The animation looks ancient, back then I thought it was so neat, haha... Doesn't even feel like they stopped airing 10+ years ago in the US.

Oh yeah...he definitely did. ;) I don't know if I'd be complaining if I were Jasmine. ❤️ haha He's so hot. ;3 😍 Jafar ain't hot though...and he's sh*t compared to Mozenrath. lol Overall, as a character he's way better and more interesting. And he's hot. haha Mozenrath actually pays a price for his power: giving up his arm, and having a weakened body. And he's much more entertaining of a character than Jafar. Mozenrath also even took on a sorcerer (Destane) that Jafar even feared apparently...I saw someone make this point, and was like "oh yeah, they're right". lol One of my friends thinks Jafar's hot, but me and my best friend are like "Eww...". Lol Mozenrath really needs a girl though. He's got the hots for Jasmine so I was thinking he should be with some female character maybe kind of similar to Jasmine, but a little different personality (like less temperamental) who goes good with him. And she's like a princess born with magic or something.. ;) *contemplates writing a fanfic* lol But I'd like something like that a lot better than him with Sadira...I don't think I like that pairing at all. :/ Also anyway, she liked Aladdin but that doesn't mean she would like Mozenrath too. He has a very different personality. After all, he's like the anti- Aladdin. And I'm not convinced he would really like her personality either...I think she'd probably conflict horribly with him. So he needs a very different kind of girl.
