This is a collection of randomly selected space games. Without any impact on quality or popularity. There are outstanding games like EVE and Elite, there are good but low-cost games like X. There are also the worst games in this category like DarkStar One. Incomplete games etc. The biggest disadvantage considering the title of the ranking is the lack of the greatest games in history such as: Nexus The Jupiter Incident, Freespace2, Homeworld 1-2, Wing Commander series and many other outstanding titles.

have to agree, wing commander series SHOULD have made the list... also surprised a few others did not make the list like earth and beyond... a game that was making money but was shut down simply because EA thought ONLY sports games mattered at that time.... oh wait they still do, how many remakes can they make on any sports game they have.....

Also, a bunch of the games were shown without any of their core mechanics: Space Engineers, KSP, Avorion -- all were missing the "Build your ship, your way" part of the game that is a huge part of their enjoyment

The _"all time"_ part of the title is obviously very subjective, "Colony Wars" and "Colony Wars Vengeance" were very good for PlayStation, "Freespace2" indeed was the benchmark other games aspired to, "Freelancer" had story, characters and a lot of new game mechanics. They probably should have divided space games into best space RTS, best space fighter/shooter, best space building game, etc...

Agreed, Especially Freespace 2 was one of the foundations of Spacesims. Not only did FS2 cause a revolution in the modding-comminuty that made dozens of mods andfree to play- expansions for the game. The Freespace 2 Engine was used só much, an independant community made an entire Wing Commander(Saga: the Darkest Dawn), standalone game, on this engine! Freespace was a kéy-game that trigged this entire genre, and it isnt even given an honorable mention? It was one of the founders of the genre!!

Independence War 2 deserves a spot on this list for sure. The game had great newtonian physics, superb graphics at the time, great story telling in an open world. Anyone into space sims should check this one out

Подборка и в самом деле очень хороша, конечно туда не вошли некоторые игры и даже серии игр. Только все эти игры можно назвать "Игры о космосе", в этой подборке только одна игра подходит под категорию "симуляторов" это игра KSP (Kerbal Space Program) так ка это единственная игра где игрок может понять принципы космических полетов, вывод ракет на орбиту, выполнение маневрирования в космосе, стыковка космических аппаратов и многое другое, пусть и в несколько упрощенном виде. Но только после этой игры приходит понимание как это все работает.

Awesome list! I don't know if it's really the "best ones", but is a good list with a good amount of games to take a look. Thanks! I played Empyrion, Space Engineers, No Mans Sly and EVE Online. No Mans Sky is focused on exploration, Space Engineer is focused on engineering, Empyrion is a mix of the two, with the limitaion of a very small team and EVE Online is near a real simulator MMO, where the focus is survival and take a group. Everyting in EVE is slow, but rewarding and little mistakes can put months of play and grinding in flames.

Independence Wars 2: Edge of Chaos is missing. Pirate action space sim with nearly real physics, played with 3 axis joystick and WASD+EF for using all 6 axis to your advantage .. that was space pr0n!

Starlancer, FreeSpace 2, Independence War 2: Edge of Chaos, Wing Commander, and Star Trek Bridge Commander should be mentioned. I like the list but I can't agree with it until I see FreeSpace 2 on the top 10, one of the best arcade space combat sims ever made, and even much better thanks to its huge community of modders that have been working on it for nearly 20 years to make it an up-to-date game. In the matter of combat physics, Independence War 2: Edge of Chaos gets the golden medal.

X3, and that series is outright brilliant... Though i am a bit confused why TC was chosen instead of AP in as the show case ? - But i guess even FL could be argued as the best version of X3... - X4 is ok, but just doesn't have the same "feel"... They spend WAY to much focus on graphics and sound, instead of playability and the grind factor... I would settle for a game, with the same graphics and sound as X3, if they would just make 1.000 new systems, 100 new weapons, and 10.000 new ships, plus making scripts an integral part of the game, for trading, building, fleet management, drones, and so on... But i digress... Great video... It was a pleasure to see a bunch of my favorite games show cased...

Help me find another space game. its also old. it was like in world of warcraft game, you could mine asteroids to build stiff and explore areas that are dangerous. You could even issue commands over radio to friendly npc "Drop your Cargo" they would blow you up in seconds :D There are few ships with different main stats. Not a strategic. Interesting list. No Wing Commanders (which pretty much started 3D space sims or made them mainstream.) Okay WC Prophecy which had the best graphics besides Freelancer should have been on here imho. What no Star Citizen? Yes it's not finished but it was started by Roberts and looks amazing. And lol no I don't work for CIG. ;-)
