Just because nobody's pointed it out here yet: The _Green Cross Man_ road safety campaign starred actor and athlete David Prowse, best known as the stunt performer who played Darth Vader on-screen in all three of the original _Star Wars_ films. There were several films in the campaign, but the one shown here was made in 1982, around the production of _Return of The Jedi,_ so it was a fun addition to give GCM a little robot sidekick obviously based on R2-D2. Ironically, in 2002, the Green Cross Droid (which Prowse kept in his personal possession) was repaired and restored by VFX specialist Mark Enright, who would later go on to rebuild and operate the real Artoo for JJ Abrams' _The Force Awakens._
