About Latvia, not a shock tbh, the song was already very divisive, the staging did not do it any justice and she was off key in both the jury performance and the actual SF. It's a shame but the only ones we can blame here are the latvian delegation for the poor staging and Samanta for not saving her vocals during rehearsals

After months of arguing on KZbin about who should win, the voters finally had their say. We all have our favorites and feel that this or that song should be ranked higher or lower, but in the end, these are the collective results and that is ultimately what matters. You can't say official results when you put Denmark on 28th and Romania on 29th, it's true that Denmark theoreticaly has 4 points over Romania HOWEVER THE POINTS FROM SEMI FINAL 2 DON'T HAVE THE SAME VALUE AS THE ONES IN SEMI FINAL 1. You can look at it as inflation, semi final 2 points are not as valuable as semi final 1 because there were fewer paticipants in SF1 thus SF2 has an ADDITIONAL 134 points to give to the contestants. In conclusion semi final 1 has 2144 points while semi final 2 has 2278 points, thus Romania is 28th and Denmark is 29th. Next time copy and paste the official results like they are printed otherwise it's illegal to say that those are the official results.

This year perfectly demonstrated why there should be no 'Big 5' and automatic qualifications. 4 out of 6 countries that were automatically in the finals occupied the last four spots, each getting 0 votes from the public. How about actually having them fight to get a spot in the finals instead of handing it to them. It's just absurd at this point.

If there weren't 6 spots occupied in advance in the finals, perhaps they could expand the number of qualifications to 12 or even 13 for each of the semifinals. Let's be honest, UK would not have qualified once in the recent years if it wasn't for the Big 5 rule.

James did not recive zero points only, bcs he is English come on. That performence was garbage. It was in a final full of enrgetic songs and was easily the weakest of them. I do not think most people in EU think about Brext while voteing and I am not even talking about countries like Russia or Azerbeeijan, who simply do not care who is in EU at all. Zero points do not come, because of politics. More people would not vote for Azerbeijan or Israel, bcs of politics than UK, but guess what they got points.

The UK is one of the Big Five, the biggest money contributors to the contest. So they are guaranteed a place in the final, while the other countries have to qualify in the semi-finals.

There is no place in a final for UK and Spain. Italy always tries to send good songs, Germany and France sometimes place high as well, but UK and Spain are always on the right side of the leaderboard, most of the time closing it as well.

I know it's stupid but I don't get why Bulgaria had to be ranked 11th behind Greece while they have the same amount of points. I understand the need to break the tie in the top 3 but why couldn't Greece and Bulgaria be both 10th? I know my concern is mainly due to the fact Bulgaria was in my top 10 and Greece wasn't. Anyway, I love the 4 first songs so I'm happy.

Ever since the second version of the tie breaker rule was introduced all ties had to be broken to make the scoreboard be less jammed and avoid situations like that. The current rule favors the song that did better with televoting, so that's why Bulgaria had to be ranked 11th.

When I see UK, Spain, Germany and The Nederlands, I just want to delete the "big five + Host pre-qualified for final" rule. There were better songs than those which didn't go to final because of them and that's really sad...

They didn't go because there's always 20 open spots, reminder that in 2011 there were only 5 automatic finalists and there were 25 songs in the final, and in 2015 there were 7 automatic qualifiers (Big 5 + Austria (Winner of 2014) + Australia (Debut)) which gave us 27 songs finalists.

I was watching ESC with my parents and we all got really bored with Latvia's performance. Samantha just stands there, singing, the dancers do nothing, why are they even there, the song is just the same all the way to the end... i don't want to be mean, but it sounded like something a Tiktok star would put together in 2 days. Also i don't understand how she is singing when she is holding the mic to her stomach.

It's called the Eurovision Song Contest after the broadcaster that started it all, not because it's in Europe. Though to take part in it you have to be a member of the European Broadcasting Union, which Australia is.
