I’m contemplating on purchasing the Nomos Orion 39 neomatik. The very one you featured with the blue hands and gold hour markers. It’s a stunning watch. First time I’ve watched you channel, and thought you came across sincere and your passion for watches is infectious. Enjoyed it.

No Iron Annie 100 years Bauhaus? Such a beautiful watch with a domed mineral crystal, lume, the same ETA movement as the Max Bill, and only half the price.

I recently bought the bauhaus specific Max Bill. My first watch at this price point and I’m very happy and impressed with it. I almost got the one with a numbered dial, but liked all the unique differences on the Bauhaus model. Thanks

Today, the entire Max Bill family does come with a sapphire crystal by default. I have the black dial automatic - I love the painted-lume numerals, which seem to float in space above the dial. No date, although the ETA movement retains a "ghost" crown position. The one oddity, for a "utilitarian" design, is the tiny crown, which makes winding the watch a bit of a pain.

I've just ordered a Max Bill, the one at 3.11, no date, no numerals - it arrives tomorrow and I can't wait. One of THE most perfect watch designs ever, in my opinion.

You can get the Max Bill with a saphire crystal from the factory by special order. I've seen the option in the listing of a German retailer on Chrono24. Costs more than the plexiglass, of course, but in my opinion, well worth it. I only wish they offered the 38mm black dial, with just the markers, without a date window.... They do have a model without a date, but only on the 34mm diameter model....

First time watching this video. Im happy to say that I have 2 of the 5 examples on this video. White dial junghans which now comes with a saphire option and the 38 MM bambino with 20 MM straps cream dial. Both are my favorites watches

I have just acquired the Hamilton Intra-Matic with the Champagne (Hodinkee spec) dial. Slightly straying from the very clean and sterile esthetics of the original releases, but I like the idea of side-stepping the cool monochromatic look without turning to a sunburst dial. Lovely watch, great price, and the 2892a2 movement is possibly the best "workhorse" movement yet made, both in accuracy and reliability.
@jamieglasse76283 жыл бұрын
Oh yes! That's a stunning choice Pygmy! I'd actually forgotten about that. A much better way of introducing a little colour than the sunbursts, I agree. I think it would look great on a milanese too. Hope you enjoy it!

Hey Jamie. Glad you are better, we share a lot. You were talking about the Nomos Orion, but as you love the date in the symmetry of Bauhaus, I thought you would have choses the Nomos Orion Date. I took this model 'over' the Max Bill because of the date window. I need the date on a watch!, simple but necessary. Where you put it matters & I am a Bauhaus fanatic. Regarding the rest of your video, your message came across clearly. Time for a think about your film setting. Don't need music, but you in a comfortable chair may well shoot up your ratings. Have fun, I've subscribed.

Jamie Glasse I am seriously thinking about the Max Bill. I love the new Bauhaus model. The red hands and date window really appeal to me. I have never owned a Junghans but always admired the legendary Max Bill for its simplistic and purist approach to design. I feel now is the time and cannot really understand why I’ve never had one on my wrist.
@jamieglasse76283 жыл бұрын
@@jasonmcelroy5516 you're not wrong! I totally agree, the little pop of red really bring the dial alive, but also the caseback with the window in the shape of the Bauhaus school is soo cool! I'd love to know if you get it!

Thanks for the good video, and for showing a range of great watches. I liked, in particular, that you went on record with actual reasons why you liked each watch…not just another lame rehashing of fancy horological vocabulary that seem to characterize many of the online watch channels. Well done. I’d be interested in your candid opinions on the more Bauhaus inspired offerings from Junkers. I’ve never seen one in person, and I’m rather green in my understanding of watches, but they seem to have many of the design elements that you brought out in your video at a price between the Orient and the Hamilton. Like the Hamilton being a mix between the American heritage, now with the Swiss internals, but utilizing the German design language-the Junkers may be another decent hybrid-a German watch, with the Japanese internals? I’d be really interested in your thoughts. Also, I’m glad COVID didn’t get the better of you and you’re coming out in the other end nice and strong. Cheers.

@marcellarocque22083 жыл бұрын
First, I disagree with the Orient in this list. It is not a Bauhaus due to the Orient logo. The logo takes attention from the dial and Bauhaus is design first. Second, your critique of plexiglass on the Junghans is extremely uneducated. Ask anyone seeking out a Hesalite Omega. The "plexiglass" in this case is intentional because it creates a dimension to the dial that a sapphire crystal will not capture. Third... Nomos is the king with Junghans second.

Honestly… the fact that they print “automatic” on watches is the least aesthetic practice. I’ll never buy a watch that tells me what the watch does while I’m trying to read the time

@markhpluygers22263 жыл бұрын
Ambiguous, but I agree with Jamie on this. Position "6" is where a date belongs. Simple, uncluttered & easy. At "3" is bad enough, between 4 - 5 is (imo) horrible.
