@adamventure2 жыл бұрын
Great question! So Ledger had simply integrated with FTX to provide direct trades/sales to your Ledger addresses. That's all it was, they did not lose any assets with the collapse. And absolute worse case, let's say hypothetically they did, your crypto is fully under your control (with your seed phrase) so you could always switch to another hardware wallet. They have no control over your crypto
@globalrevival Жыл бұрын
So, being compatible with 5000+ coins doesn’t mean you can actually store that many different coins. Can you speak to the limitations of the device on how many different kind of coins that can be stored? In an older device, seems like it ran out of space after about 3 “apps” were loaded onto the device to support 3 different coins. Please explain this limitation. Thanks.
@adamventure Жыл бұрын
So apps basically means network. Like the Ethereum app lets you use the Ethereum network. And on the Ethereum network (with the single app), you can store effectively unlimited tokens. The same applies to other networks like Solana, Polygon, etc. That's where the 5000+ number comes from. Hope that makes sense!
@globalrevival Жыл бұрын
@@adamventure Yes, that makes sense. But, an older Ledger S couldn’t store more than 3 apps (networks, BTC, ETH, and a XRP (I think)) before not permitting any further apps to be loaded onto it to to support other networked coins. Do you know what the limits are for these new devices?

@adamventure2 жыл бұрын
Yes you're absolutely right - in theory, bluetooth provides an additional attack vector for bad actors. In practice, this isn't a huge factor because your Ledger should be kept in a safe private place the vast majority of the time, or powered off if taken into public

This is incorrect, simply because bluetooth or no bluetooth, everything of value is secured on the actual internal "secured" chip within the Ledger itself, only "useless" non sensitive information is sent between the unit and your smartphone. It is the same as when you connect your Ledger via USB to use it on your computer with Ledger live, its "dumb data" that is being transmitted and even if at that exact moment you were being hacked or spied on, the data would be worthless. So in reality, if you feel comfortable using a hardware wallet via USB cable, you should be comfortable using bluetooth. Also, just to add, if you really are afraid of being hacked by someone TARGETING you while using bluetooth, I would be far more concerned with the fact they KNOW what you are doing and are so close, which basically means you are 1000000000000000000% more in danger of the good old "$5 wrench" attack, so take a momnt and consider those facts, because what is mentioned above is fact and not opinion based.
