Great stuff. If you increase the overall ambient lighting for the LED projects, then the LEDs themselves wont saturate the image and show their "true colours".

That single transistor with three LED will not work. The KZbinr, forgot to mention that they used a specialized RGB LED that has build in circuit to cycle the colors automatically.

Not only that but the BJT has no function in that circuit. You could literally just connect 3 of those leds and a resistor to power and get the same effect.

I guess you could do that with XOR gates, where the gate output becomes one of it's own inputs. You need one gate per led / button pair.
