👍👍 Very informative video. Thanks. There are many companies who are showing very good profits and also have good book value but are not paying any Dividends which creates doubts if the profits are genuine and sustainable or promoters are playing manipulating profits for their vested interests for share price manipulating. Hence, SEBI should have guidelines for dividend distribution or mandatory dividend distribution policy declaration by all listed companies. This will eliminate showing bogus/manipulated profits by the small companies .

Dear Sourab, pl. read my comments carefully. I didn't say 100% dividend payout. I said generally consistently dividend paying cos. ( generally 20 % or higher dividend distribution) is sign of good management. Companies only earning and paying any Dividends & taxes (manipulating) are not good for investment. These factors creates doubts about honesty of the company.
@subodh58903 жыл бұрын
@@santoshmakhijani5297 Many Companies are spending money on expansion. Few Companies may also have negative profit. So They can't pay dividends. But these companies can be future multibaggers. Also many large companies will give dividends since They don't have any future expansion. It is quite possible that these Companies belong to declining sector . We may don't see these Large Companies in future. Eg Coal India may pay good dividends But With Renewable Energy Coal India may have to stop entire coal mining. So Just on dividends We can't predict future. In current situation yes good dividends means good profit Companies.

I'd love to see a review on NALCO. The stock is selling at a PE of ~5 (based on Mar-19 earnings). The company has been making consistent profits over the last many years. The company has almost half its market cap in cash. The dividend yield is amazing. The company has zero debt. Inventory turnover has been consistently increasing. Also I don't see anything particularly negative about the company in news articles or otherwise. I believe the downturn is because of reduction in Aluminium prices because of the US-China Tradewar, which will not last forever. There is good correlation between Aluminium prices (as on London metal exchange) and the price of NALCO. I would love to see your opinion on this sir.

@@AshishKumar-xg6hi that's exactly what they're doing. They have one of the highest dividend yields today. That's why I was looking for a review from the InvestYadnya team. Not sure if I'm missing something.
@sahilgohan075 жыл бұрын
@@AshishKumar-xg6hi absolutely, I totally agree. But even if the stock price had not decreased at all, that would still account for a dividend yield of ~8%. I feel that's a pretty respectable yield. Moreover, now that stock price has reduced, there is greater chance for Capital gain. If the company does not have any significant challenges, I think the probability of this happening is very high. Now I'm no dividend investor, and I feel capital gain is important. But the opportunity to have capital gain along with a healthy dividend seems like a pretty easy choice. Which brings me to the bedrock of my request for the Invest Yadnya team to do a review and let us know if something significant is being overlooked. In fact the company recently reported a loss of 28Cr in the latest quarter. But I get your point, it;s not the healthiest of signs to have so much cash in your balance sheet. It's just that buying a company for 7000 Cr having ~3500 Cr in cash and zero debt seems like a great opportunity to pass up on. That said, I was looking at their per share dividend over the last few years. The last year dividend seems to be abnormally high. The dividend for the previous years are 5.75 (2019), 8.4 (2018), 2.3 (2017), 3.6 (2016), 1.6 (2015), 1.3 (2014), 1.12 (2013), and 0.94 (2012). So this dividend yield might also just be an anomaly. But with the chance of Capital gain, that's a risk I'm willing to take.

I have never understood the logic of dividends especially for Retail investors. A small retail investors who somehow manage to accumulate small quantities assumably gets a couple of thousand rupees from dividends, right? I am sure the idea to be become wealthy and not rich by a few thousand bucks. Most of these high dividend paying Companies become soft target of Big operators who suddenly become active during dividend distribution and make small investors nervous due to fluctuations in prices like NTPC, LnT and the dumbest of the Decade ITC. Berkshire has never given a dividend expect once which Buffet says he would have been in washroom when to was decided. I personally never would like to invest in such Companies as small investors do not manage good entry and exits just to get dividends.
