TOP 4 REASONS TO WORK ON YOUR MOTORCYCLE

While not for everyone, learning to take of your motorcycle is crucial skill if want to be a reliable rider on long motorcycle trips.
In this I'll share for reasons why I believe it's important to learn to perform at least basic maintenance tasks on your motorcycle which will help you to ride more.

On the subject of tools; working on your bike at home lets you learn what tools you need to work on it when away from home. A lot of work can be achieved with a very basic set of tools, but you need the right sizes for your bike. A small torque wrench is also a must as case screws have a habit of stripping ... or a helicoil thread repair kit.

I love this part of motorcycle culture where if you see someone in trouble, people stop to help. When you have problems in a car, other car drivers generally think "thats your problem" and dont care.

When you do more complex maintenance on your CRF like cleaning the engine internally, I would love it if you also make videos about that. Since I also have a CRF300 and would like to understand these things and maybe even do it myself someday as well.

Absolutely! Actually I can tell you. My goal is to make a full library of maintenance videos for the CRF300L. Always step by step, not skipping any screw ;). It will take some time as it’s a small KZbin channel and don’t have the budget to splurge 😂. But whenever is time to do the maintenance on my CRF I’ll always make a video about it.

Great video and thank you. Certainly inspiring us to have the basic knowledge, specially for off-road / adventure riders. Since I bought my bike, I have been trying to find out where to go learn maintenance & repair tasks, and it has been hard to find.

Great video, would be awesome if the tool roll could fit under the adventure spack racks on de 300l without tool tube. Maybe it needs a rain cover or something like that.

Hi Joist! I love the idea and tested that. However I found the plastic tool box of the CRF300 to be too weak for that. It’s held in place by 4 small screw bolt only to plastic. If you do have a different compartment in your motorcycle that is strongly fixed to it it’s totally possible to do it ✌️

@@RoiaMoto ​​⁠yes it is very weak, but what I mean is removing the toolbox and strap the roll directly underneath the AS racks. Like you did with the replacement tooltube but now just the toolroll with something like a rain cover to keep it clean.

Ohhh.. You've got a great bike on your hands!! I'm dying to try the AJP! What a great bit of toy that is. I need to get my hands on one in order to build the tool kit. Long story short. Each tool kit I build is custom built. I literally have to check each bolt and nut to build the list of tools. Are you by any chance located in Europe? If you are not too far I would come by to check the tools on your bike 😅.

The CRF300l is a relativ simple bike for doing maintenance yourself.For imstande valve check on an Africa Twin 😱😱😱

Fully agree! I’ve never dine it on an Africa Twin. It for sure much more complicated. The worst valve clearance I’ve done so far was on a Honda Hornet. 4 cylinder, 16 valves 😂. And an absolute chaos to open the head cover.

Yeah thats a good reason to get a more simple bike. Easier to do maintenance but also if something is wrong, you can understand what is actually wrong. It won't take a repair shop ages to find what is wrong, with some minor electrical issue somewhere that stops your motorcycle from working etc.
