@@independenceltd. Yeah I just fall in love with that song over and over again. Immediate air drumming...lol. For context my favorite song of the year was Gods in Decay by Unleash the Archers and my 3rd is Spirit of No Return by Soilwork which has another of the most melodic catchy choruses of the year.

Some nuggets there among your top 40 to 21. In fact the only four (4) albums of 2024 that I acquired this year are in this particular list, in a bit different order (Bruce D., Purple, BCC & Priest). Bought lots and lots of old stuff this past year. Speaking of Priest, I have tracked down a copy of Firepower and will get to spinning that sometime this week. Am intrigued by that Kelley Juett solo album now that I am aware of the Mothership connection. Unfortunately Bandcamp seems to be sold out of physical copies of Mothership product, only digital downloads available.....might have to commit sacrilege!

nooooooooooooooooooo...well, that sux. have you checked discogs or ebay? I had to pump the breaks on the purchases or I'd have never finished my list. Coming in just under the wire and I started the last week in Oct. I'll have to start Oct. 1st next yr. lol

@@independenceltd. Yes, both sites have copies, but it's the shipping costs that are the deal breakers. I'll keep checking with the local shops...am bound to find something sooner or later. As for your acquisitions - on top of those 40 from this calendar year, I recall you getting a few boxsets and lots of old vintage stuff to fill out your collection.....how do you keep up with it all!

Now....back to the topic of Judas Priest. Yes indeed Indy Donald, your ranking is correct re Invincible Shield...in the solid 8.0 zone - which is very respectable. And now, after an initial listen to the "Firepower" album, I concur totally....it is without a doubt the superior album. The immediacy, freshness and cohesion of the whole album comes across big time. And I know it's only going to get better with each successive listen. Indeed Faulkner rejuvenated the band, much the same way McBride has done for Purple. Top trax at first spin are: Evil Never Dies, Guardians/Rising From the Ruins, Spectre, Traitor's Gate, and Lone Wolf. Definitely an easy 8.5 inching towards 9.0 territory! Rock solid!

@@independenceltd. I would say that Firepower is the best thing Priest has done since 1990, ie: Painkiller. Very strong album so late in their career.

@@independenceltd. I hear what you're saying! I like Painkiller a lot...probably my 2nd favourite album of their catalogue ( the order of preference changes on occasion).
