I intended to just take a short trip. Didn't bring water or food. It's a really popular trail. "If anything happens people are already here" I thought. Well I didn't get very far before I realized they shut down the bridge for repairs (old train bridge). Oh well. I'll just take the back trail home. We'll that ended in disaster. Flipped the bike. Took hours for anyone to find me. The fall was bad enough that my teeth were impaled on the inside of my lips. No food, no water. Did have cell service though. Would have taken a long time for anyone to find me. Luckily a couple of dad's friends happened to see which direction I went in so he was able to get to me before it got dark. Now I always take 2 phone chargers (one solar powered one quick charging) as well as at least 2L of water and food for 2 days. Even if it's only supposed to be an hour long trip.

So I've been told. I found like a built in cooler on my quad the other day. Under my seat is a huge box, sealed but empty. Well it's my new cooler

Ratchet strap, so many uses for one. I've nursed my quad back to base with a front wheel that was flopping with one and you never know when you need to anchor something down on a rack

Number one trail accessory is a map. Number two is to not ride alone. I do a lot of trails and i find lost people to be the most common issue on the trails, also no gas which can sometimes be from being lost too long

I agree with the solo riding. I ran out of gas on a solo ride because my carb float was stuck and drained all the gas. I also did not travel far from the main trailhead to ensure I could push the bike back since I was solo. There was an awesome couple there that helped me retrieve gas, gave me a ride back to my bike, and made sure I made it back to the car/trailhead. It's amazing how far 1 mile feels when one is pushing a 275# bike.

Many people overlook fire extinguishers and think it will never happen to them. I had a 2002.5 (iirc) polaris sportsman 700 very first gen EFI that had a recall which mine was NOT apart of where I want to say the harness rubs through, grounds, and starts and electrical fire. If I had not been right next to my camper and thinking on my feet it would have burned to the ground.
