It is almost fishing season here in my neck of the woods.... April 1 is the official opening day of open water fishing season. We still have ice on many of our lakes, but it will be clearing soon..... These videos get me fired up about getting out on the water!!

That electric shad 4.8 with the flashy swimmer has been a deadly combo in my local small lakes and ponds. Most of the time just slow rolling and letting it kick.

In my neck of the woods, we're already heading into the post spawn. The water is gin clear and you can walk along the bank and see a lot of empty beds. There might be a few small buck males here and there, but those big females are long gone.

Once again great info the only thing there are a lot of other dates that you didn’t talk about for the month of April. In my area if you go fishing in April for bass and don’t have a spinner bait or a tube or lizard Texas rigged you will be missing out on some large fish. You guys do a great job it just seems like you don’t take location of the viewers into consideration you ball everybody up either up north or down south and that’s where you leave it

Great video. Things were going well with warming trend and starting to see some bright green vegetation sprouting. Fish were starting to be active and I was catching 4-5 bass each time out all on cranks and underspins. Then nature decided, let’s change it up and bring in 30 degree highs with 18-19 degree lows for three straight days. Now I can’t buy a bite. .... these videos are great for reference. Right now I go out with a moving bait and a slow bait for a 1-2 combo.

We need a few days of 60 degree weather and wind from the south and it's gonna light up! New Swimbait rods are in, and whether it's smart or not, I'm 85 to 90% committed to Swimbaits. I'm not entirely Swimbaits and occasionally,a jig, frog, or jerkbaits tied on but the last four years I've been committed to Swimbaits and had two of my best years in Massachusetts after bass fishing for over 30 years. Thanks guys! Breaking out of the Cabin this week.

I’m still pretty new to bass fishing but just caught my new PB last weekend on a green pumpkin senko whacky rigged! No boat so I was fishing the rocky bank and caught it in the mid afternoon. Solid 5 pounder or so, but man I was hyped like it was 10 😂

That damn little John ain’t playing around! I use the citrus Shad color and take the back hook off completely, and attach a swivel and small willow blade. They can’t take it.

@@johnkent9019 not gonna lie I started fishing it on a 7ft St. Croix Triumph spinning rod with a 6 speed lews 3000 series reel, 10lbs test. That joker holds on to em from literally the size of shad to the biggest I’ve caught on a little John was 5.8. Caught a 7.2 on a chartreuse black back KVD flat sided crank, which has also produced this year.

Agreed. KZbin is awash with spring videos for red crankbaits, red lipless, red chatterbait, all talking about mimicking a crawfish, but no one seems to say “pick up a red jig with a red craw trailer”, the most obvious crawfish imitation lure. Maybe it’s a reaction bait thing?

Matt, have you seen or tried the storm Rick clunn “Hail Mary” lipless crank bait? I use it like u guys use the LV500. It’s different looking, it comes in 1/2 oz 3/4 oz and 1 oz. It’s really fat at the head and tapers down into a normal lipless. I caught a lot of good fish on it last year. I fish the upper most reservoir on the Coosa river called Weiss Lake. Y’all should take a trip down here sometime. Not to far from Chattanooga. Check out the map of it . It’s really cool lake 40,000 plus acres.

I line up on a shoal bank yesterday where I saw a bait fish flicker on the surface.. about 3 feet up on flat went into the creek channel and then the other side was the 45 shoal bank… skinnier water.. could cast from bank to bank… but I lined up and I couldn’t figure out to throw a crank a slow rolled wobble head, blade bait, spinner bait… I threw everything but the kitchen sink.. even tried topwater. Never thrown a topwater this early…I saw great temps but visibility is like 6 inches in a body of water that is normally 15 feet I can’t get bit right now for the life of me.. about to sell my boat haha

I fish an impoundment lake in North Georgia that has only large mouth (no spotted bass) that is managed by natural resource department. It is a slightly difficult lake to fish, mostly clearer water, loaded with all size shad, with big bass, crappie and even some stocked walleye. Backlashed on a cast with the LC LV500 and the knot to the clip failed. $15 thrown away. :( FIsh weren't biting it anway. Do you remove the front facing hook on the forward treble when you do a bounce the bottom retrieve? Every cast I did get to make came back with grass or gunk on that one.

That depends on location. Generally speaking the 5" senko just plain catches fish this time of year. But I wouldn't hesitate to try the bigger worm and see what happens. We got on an amazing bite this week last year throwing the Ol Monster in Junebug on a Texas Rig but we were on a lake that was already post spawn.

Catching a lot of 2 lb right at shore line and they have red at base of bottom rear dorsal. Is that prespawn? It’s located out of the direct sun so leads me to think it’s prespawn.
