I've recently switched over to a gas powered hair dryer. There's nothing like the smell of 2 stroke in the morning! Last New Years Eve, you recommended the ox horn from Beard Octane and it really was one of my best purchases. It has the wider teeth and keeps my beard from separating too much and looking wirey. 👍

I love how I just mentioned to you yesterday how much I loved my new Babyliss pro, and then I stumble on this video. I had NO idea how HUGE of an improvement a nicer hair dryer would be. Quieter, quicker drying, styles better, actual cold shot, and that's just to name a few! It makes me beard actually do what I want, instead of fighting around with it. Just blew my mind. I was using a $15 Conair my entire beard journey, because it "worked". Love my Chicago comb, and my Sanguine Japanese adjustable scissors. I actually found those scissors, and my seven potions brush early on in my journey, when I was trying to find good quality tools that would last. If I make the plunge for a new trimmer, I may try out a brio or a Babyliss. Right now I just have an Andis trimmer, and Oster clippers. Using the right tools is such a fantastic difference that we sometimes don't realize, until we pull the trigger on them. I thought the new dryer would be better, but it is so much better than I could have imagined.

I have a couple styling items. But #1 is a Buffalo horn comb from Amazon (similar time the beard octane ox horn). Second is my Kent comb. I have a bores brush from Walmart but rarely ever use it. I really wanted a Brio but had to suffice with a Cheap Whal that gets the job done ok. Eventually will get a hairdryer or heated brush when my beard gets long enough to need it. Great video Dan.

Thanks for the video. Man, the stache is looking good. I recently went from the Conair Pro Elite (the low fan speed was still like a mini tornado) to the MASC Blown Blow Dryer. The #1 setting is a very low fan speed (it doesn't blow your beard hair around and styling becomes easier). The cold shot is on the power switch and I really think they missed the boat not having a button trigger for the cold shot. But all and all it's better than the Conair. The Beard Octane ox horn went immediately into my routine after the first ever pass through my beard. I have the Mountaineer Brand cactus bristle brush and it works well for my gray beard. The rest is same same.

You forgot about the straight razor and beard template they give you crisp lines looks like a professional barber did it. I dont take much off but the cheek line needs to on point and symmetrical, not so much the neck line since you can't really see it. Those 2 items is a must and a game changer.

Great video Dan C. Man I use the 16T kent comb canceled them all out I dont get static from it. It's a big comb and has wide and close teeth. I think it's their biggest comb. I also have three boar bristle brushes. One that has a handle and two that dont. And I also have one wood comb with wide teeth. I have a simple hair dryer that my wife has as an extra and works well. I have a beard straightener but i only use it on special occasions and only use it on my sides. I use the hair dryer in the bottom of my beard. Seems to work for me to not have waves or stragglers.

First, I cannot commend you highly enough for using your shears with correct grip and terminology! My preferred combs are Kent F0T, Beard Brawler wide-tooth wood, and a 2-sided peachwood pocket comb, although I prefer my hands to the latter. Hands: Less fussy and more laid-back, in my opinion, than a comb (with apologies to Edd Burns' "Kookie" of 77 Sunset Strip [yeah, I'm old. So what] and "Kookie, Kookie, lend me your comb"). Also Hands: I like to use the backs of my hands where I think the hairs act a bit like a brush. I've never felt satisfied with a brush for more than a brief period of time, even a brush recommended by my barber. I use trimmers or shears as I feel the need but have too many rather than any favorites.

I live in a fairly humid area. I notice that my beard looks pretty good in the morning using your technique with the dryer and roller brush or the heated brush with oil or oil and balm. But after 1-3 hours, the appears to a lot of frizz, waves and curls. It seems to happen I'd I just do oil or if I do pull and balm. Am I over applying product? Am I over drying to start?
