I started watching all the different shows last year. I pretty much have them on all day while I'm home. I have always booked my Disney trips on my own. I know what I want and like doing everything. The last trip in February I ended up canceling and rebooking with Dreams instead because I wanted to support the show. My agent Susan Kelly was so nice and helped me as much or as little as I wanted. I appreciated that since I am already used to doing it all on my own and plan everything out way in advance. Anyways, love the shows. Keep up the good work.

I went many times to Top of the World as a kid and we saw several non-cheesy shows there such as Barry Manilow when he was at his peak. It was fun getting dressed up and my father and brothers were in suits, my mother in an evening gown. Great memories. We went every year and it was always someone famous performing. Also I have been to Hoop de Doo many times throughout all the decades and believe it or not the ribs, chicken etc were way better in the 70s. If simple food can go downhill, they managed to do that.

The main reason Cali Grill is down on my list - The sushi is subpar and I feel like they lean on their sushi a lot. It's Whole Foods grade sushi The mains are not the size of the price point that they are and it's not exactly a tapas style place.

David Thacker of course it makes sense. how you remember used to be able to smoke everywhere except for on a ride, there was ashtrays everywhere. my last time going to either Disney or Universal was in I would say 2002 and I was in my late teens and a smoker I recently just went back to Universal in August so I wasn't there for 15 years I brought my son and my dad and sparked a cigarette right after I go through the ticket counter and my Dad gives me this look like what are you doing, I'm smoking a cigarette what does it look like and he's like oh you got to go to designated smoking areas lol I looked at him and said yeah right but it was true though I'm one of those assholes where I just smoked as I walked cuff the cigarette inside my palm and blue smoke up and away from anybody and nobody said anything for the few days I was there but I couldn't believe it was like that now. shit when Disneyland opened in the 50s you probably could sit there and smoke a pipe like Walt dead in the Pirates of the Caribbean hell there was probably cigarette butts in those Waters in the 60s no I just thought to myself Pirates wasn't open when Disneyland first opened but you know what I mean. I've never been to his apartment up-top the firehouse by would always imagine that it would have a very distinct smell of old stale tobacco and ink which would give such an ambient smell that it would stick in your head like the scene of Rome burning at Epcot. Talk about a smell you never forget every time I watch a video of a ride through when that seemed comes in that smell will hit me sitting at home.

Hello If you are using two table service credits at a signature location with out a prix fixe menu, for example California Grill, what do you get included in your meal? Is it just an entree & dessert, the same as a single table service location or do you get an appetizer as well? Also At places like chicken guy or d-luxe burger what do you get for your quick service credit? Is it just the chicken tenders/burger or do you get a side included?
@builderphil135 жыл бұрын
It depends on which dining plan you have. If you have the deluxe dining plan, lunch and dinner includes an app, main course, dessert and a drink. But like most of the restaurants that require two credits, unless you order the most expensive dishes in every category, it's not worth it.

A top five I would like to see is best WDW restaurants for value overall. Normally these types of rankings are by category--quick service, table service, signature. And that's certainly fair. If you were ranking best restaurants overall, most or not all of them would be signature, which makes sense. But I also like value for money places--in the real world, mostly dives that serve great food on the cheap (granted, "on the cheap" isn't exactly in abudnance at WDW). So if you were paying out of pocket, and had a moderate budget--you can splurge once or twice, but it had better be totally worth it--where would you eat? Are there signature restaurants that are worth every penny and more? Are there counter service restaurants that are great for the money and provide a quintessential Disney experience? Sit-down restaurants that aren't quite so pricey but are great enough that they rank up there with the two-credit joints? I think that would be an interesting list to put together.

Flying Fish, meanwhile, is our MUST VISIT place every trip. Superb. And great service. And people who just plain CARE. Beyond a doubt the best value-for-money, too. Yes, expensive. But worth it. If you can do ONE splurge night during your stay, that's the place to do it.

I recently visited Disney World for the first time in February and of course had to make a reservation for California Grill. My now fiance was planning to propose there at dinner on Valentine's Day, and boy I am glad he didn't. The service was absolutely awful. Our server was extremely condescending and rude, giving off an attitude as if we were bothering him. We were a younger group of people and treated us as if because of our age, he insinuated we weren't going to tip well, etc. Their wine list is overwhelming, and when we asked for recommendations, he didn't know his wine menu very well. Now, the food was quite delicious! We ordered a few sushi rolls (I think this is where they shine!) for starters which were awesome and a bottle of wine. Our entrees were alright, nothing spectacular, but we had such a bad taste in our mouth that we skipped dessert. For the price, we expected excellent service and this was just a major let down... The Brown Derby was phenomenal, a definite trip highlight. Cant wait to try Jiko and Flying Fish on our next trip back! :)

I know, my fiancé looked at me and said, "we will never be back here." Its sad because their food was great but so many things went wrong that it put the absolute worst taste in our mouths. You're right! There are so many other amazing restaurants on Disney property that truly put this to shame.

We have done the Hoop Dee Doo at least 6 times and we always love it, but we pay out of pocket for it so we get the Category 1 seating. I think the Yachtsmen Steakhouse would make my top 5. And...I don't know what I am missing with the Boathouse. We had dinner there once and it was ok...nothing fabulous. I found it to be over priced even with the dining plan. All the sides are a la carte so you don't even get a side with your steak unless you want to pay extra. I think Yachtsmen is better.

I would have to disagree with you about the Hollywood brown Derby because of my personal experiences. I've gone there about 5 or 6 times -granted it's been about 3 years since I've gone back- but every time the food would be drastically under or overcooked. For the past 3 times both me, my mother, and father would get the filet mignon at a medium rare and it would always come out well done... Including the "replacements" that our waiter would give. I'm hoping it's changed, but it's going to be a long time before I would choose a signature dining there over California Grille or Jiko.

@melissaproulx53857 жыл бұрын
Blair wallace You need to purchase the dining plan not the quick service dining plan in order to use table service credits. A meal would include your non-alcoholic drink, appetizer or dessert and entree. 2 table service credits would cost you 2 days worth of table service meals on the dining plan. On the deluxe dining plan it would only cost you on days worth.

Pete--I'd be VERY interested in you giving a little chat for us about this subject which your various reviews have highlighted for me: The really GREAT places at WDW are just that--fantastic experiences that, for food/service/ambiance, hold their own among themepark dining or non-themepark anywhere in the nation. No doubt. The basics are mostly good at that--burgers and such--and do their job well. Not every restaurant can or SHOULD be four-star gourmet or special. But what continues to amaze me is that the places you guys so rightly skewer as being awful STAY awful! Shouldn't a company that does such "great" stuff at least be able to manage a minimum standard of GOOD virtually everywhere? WHY not? Is it politics? Is it management ineptitude? Is it that they just don't care? I just cannot understand how the places we all KNOW suck continue TO suck when surely upper management in F&B has to KNOW about it by now. Are they protecting cronies/bad managers? What's going on? Shouldn't all guests expect a minimum standard of basic competence in service, food, and comfort? IF a major chain can do consistent-if-not-brilliant menus and service and quality nationwide....why can't Disney do it in Orlando?

Shannon Simek sorry to pop up, but I've been twice, and most recently in September last year! Thought I'd give you my opinion on a few things since I love food so much 😂 -Chez Remy is a gorgeous restaurant with one of the best steaks I have ever had, and the atmosphere in there is so fun and unique. it was by far my favourite, and if I was to recommend anywhere I would recommend here first, however it is incredibly popular, so I would also say to book it well in advance! - Annette's is good for a casual dinner, the food sizing is huge, and it's all American style. I really enjoyed seeing all the servers on roller skates, it was something new and refreshing, however it is a very loud restaurant and not necessarily somewhere you'd go for a fancy meal out! -Blue lagoon is literally in the pirates of the Caribbean ride, and the food is incredible and all Caribbean themed, however we did have one of the longest waits of the trip in there and ended up being there for 2 and a half hours when there were two of us which wasn't great, but the atmosphere kind of made up for it There are lots of really high level restaurants, however we dined on the half board plus plan, so we didn't get to eat at any of those besides Inventions. inventions is good, however we paid an extra €100 for two of us, and the food was not worth the price to us! These are just my opinions, and I hope it helped a little!

We went to Morimoto's and we were underwhelmed at best. I love to cook etc and was very excited to dine at an Iron Chef's restaurant. This place felt more like a tourist trap than anything. The service was good. The food was good. The restaurant was beautiful. It was just.....meh. We were expecting so much more. In addition after spending 300 dollars we walked out of there discussing where we should go eat. We were hungry! The portions were way too small for the price. Disappointed.
