If you have a GoPro and use the Bugs default mount; Remove the rubber damper from the hanging mount. (Under the cover with four screws). Then, wad something in there there like paper towel to make the mount firm. The footage is night and day different as far as smoothness. The GoPro has stabilization but the rubber mount is too bouncy/jerky. Making it solid, contrary to what you may think, smooths it out considerably.

The Bugs 3 was my first drone and I got it mostly because of you guys. I've had tons of fun with it. It has a slight learning curve with no 'headless mode' or 'altitude hold', but I was flying pretty well after 6-7 batteries and I think it probably made me a better pilot without the crutches.

I'm new to the hobby and I got my first drone for Christmas this year I set a $50.00 price range and I ended up going with the Cheerwing CW4 very surprised at how easy it was to fly. And of course as a beginner I've crashed it a few times and I'm still on the original props. I've watched a lot of videos on KZbin to decide which one I would like best but unfortunately didn't run into your page until after pitching and immediately subscribed to get better ideas for future drones and new features that may come up in the new year.

Yeaaaah!!! I agree with you on your #1 pick. I just receive my Drocon Bugs3 (Blue) Haven't had the chance to do a full flight on it yet because of the weather here in Texas, just a short one and that was at night. Those leds are amazing on the Bugs3. I also enjoy flying the XK X251. I love the Hobby grade controller that came with it. I purchased two of these, I loved it so much...........Thanks again for sharing: )

Hey! Have you noticed the ton of refurbished BeBop Ones that have showed up on Ebay? I have wanted GPS and the Mapping ability for a long time. Need to look and see if you have done a video on it. Since it was a $300 drone and now tons of them are being sold into toy grade hands it might be time to revisit it. There are a lot of hidden pitfalls there for someone on a real tight budget like a $20 iPhone App. You have to buy and not a lot of good info about what you can do to get away from the hard to find battery for it. Wish I has that $$ for a do over, I’d have a Bugs 3 instead!

I'm happy you have recognised that "my" JJRC H38WH is a good product! Arms are cheap and easily available (I have received two even here in Italy but just for good measure, I'm still using the original ones with no problems) the altitude hold is perfect, the quad is super stable and that wide angle camera is surprisingly good for the price point. It is very light weight so in case of breeze better be careful and in case of real wind better opt out of flying but with an only 400 mah battery it flies for about ten minutes! Happy new year!

I'm in the market for a drone but I'm a bit more concerned with the quality of videos and stills from these cameras that come with the drones. I don't have a GoPro but it would be nice to be able to change out cameras as you described with this particular model. HI guys, great episode. I really want to get the bugs 3 but I'd like to attach a good 2 or 3 axis gimbal. The link you provided in the comments references that you can add the 'MJX Stabilization gimbal' but do you have a link for that exact gimbal, I can't seem to find it. Hey Rc Saylors, yall do some great work. I have a quick question. I'm still a new pilot, and the only thing keeping me away from the Bugs3 is the lack of altitude hold. But when I clicked on your link in the description for the Bugs 3, one of the still frames on a video says "Altitude Hold". Have they added altitude hold on the Bugs3?

Nope, not sure why they say that.. at least that we know of. Eventually you'll have to try and work your way up to non altitude hold drones and this would be a great one for it!

I am so confused on the bugs numbering! The 2,6 and 8 are more expensive and I have no clue which number represents the newest version since the video is a little older. I've watched at least 50 of your videos now and the bugs3 is at the top to ask for father's day but please advise me if something newer I've missed is better around that 100 range. Question: Ok odd question but I noticed in the video for the Bugs 3, there is an oval looking track at the place where you guys generally test your drones (the air field). I fully agree that no one should spend $1,000+ on a "first drone". Searching youtube is proof enough, there's so many people who's first drone was a Mavic Pro, and they crashed it on their first flight, or it flew away never to be seen again. Because they had "no idea" what they were doing. My Mavic was my 4th drone, and I had been flying for 2 years. By then I was fully confident in my piloting skills. I got all my crashes out of the way with my first two. My third (a Blade Chroma) actually cost more than the Mavic, but had (has) a defective camera that Horizon wouldn't replace, so I've gotten little use from it.

What do you see as an average shipping time to the US from China from Gearbest? For instance, I see that the Bugs 3 ships from China but I've seen other products that have a US warehouse. I don't need it in 2 days like Amazon Prime but don't want to wait a month either. Thanks.

Sometimes we wait a week or less, but that is more on the rare side of things. Realistically, probably about three weeks. We've also waited a tad bit longer than that as well, maybe 5 weeks max.

Can you provide videos with more data such as starting off with what is the better/best transmission frequency and why, flight time, range, if more than one battery is included, cost for extra batteries and props as well as any features like GPS, auto level, image quality, image stabilization, low and high light quality, resistant to high winds etc. people look to these videos to learn what’s good to avoid buying junk and having to start all over again. Merry Christmas Mx, sorry to hear that! Sounds like a lemon.. are you sure though? A lot of people think the Bugs is "dead" but it has a very odd start up sequence. You have to hold the red button while turning it on for the first time to get it bound up.

Yeah I've tried the red button, but there is no power to the quad whatsoever when the battery is plugged in, no beeps, no lights, nothing at all. Totally dead.

Before anything is turned on or plugged in. Hold the red button, throttle down, turn on your transmitter. Now let go of the button and plug in your battery to the drone. Now hit the red button again (maybe hold it, can't remember) and you are good to go!
