If the small fish are safer for pollutants such as mercury, should I select the filets from smaller (wild caught alaskan) salmon when I have the opportunity?
@janicemaceachern10044 жыл бұрын
I worked in the salmon farming industry for 8 years or so when it first started on the East Coast of Canada. They don't use dye to color the meat. It is the krill and small crustaceans that give it the pink flesh. I think salmon should be on the toxic food list. They have been pumped full of drugs to combat disease and viruses that the actual act of farm fishing created. I don't think the wild caught salmon are much better. I can taste the difference.

Even as a picky eater child who didn't like most meats my mother could always depend on my eating most any fish. Being made fully aware of the true nature of the health limitations of eating today's fish as a dietary staple is very vital for myself and all of those who depend on it routinely in their weekly diets. Hello Dr. Ekberg . . . great info here. However, I'd like to point out the distinctly different characteristics of the Albacore Tuna. When people say 'tuna', they often think of the very large and sought after Bluefin and Yellowfin tuna you see on tv shows. The Albacore tuna is a very sustainable species that we fish for commercially and recreationally on the West Coast of the US (Primarily north) and typically only catch juveniles that are between 8-30 lbs. Low mercury and young age.
@lynpatricia68542 жыл бұрын

Thank you. There literally is an agenda to keep Bluefin and Yellowfin away from the masses. I've never heard of anyone dying from eating to much of it or even having it as part of a steady diet. Lots of propaganda out there to guide the customer to what THEY want to feed you rather than what is actually good to eat! There's a reason why Bluefin is so massively expensive. If you've ever had Bluefin nigiri/shashimi (Toro) you know.

Great video. Couple of important points to add. Watch out what oil is added to your canned fish. Many manufacturers pack sardines and other fish in soybean oil which is high in omega 6. Some use cottenseed oil, a highly industrially processed oil with trace pesticides. I have found Trader Joe's to have a great selection of sardines and anchovies packed in olive oil or water. I always go for the olive oil as I think it holds the fish flavor better plus the olive oil bonus. I often save the leftover packing oil for other recipes. I would not recommend their canned trout as it is farm raised and packed in canola oil. They also have wild sockeye salmon (canned and frozen) although I have not tried it my self.

Here in Europe, especially in Holland, the Dutch "Matjes" is eaten for the best, healthiest and tastiest fish. It is the very young (virgin) herring that can only be caught from May 1st. The season runs from mid-June to September. The "Matjes" is extremely high in omega 3 and very little mercury.

As a Flemmish woman, I LOVE maatjes. They are delicious and not too expensive for my limited budget! Way to go, Dutch neighbours! 🥰

Every time I cross the German border to get some of those "Majestes" to CH, as they don't have any of those. The only problem with the Dutch ones is added rapeseed oil.. There's also some in France, and it seems that they get it in the Atlantic with no oils added.
@videosuchen2 жыл бұрын
@@standom2390 The original Dutch matjes are only available in summer or frozen. The "so-called" Matjes with rapeseed oil are not real, original Matjes. You can only get them in good fish shops, not at discounters.

A lot of people don’t know the difference between omega 3 and omega 6. Omega 3 fats thin your blood and omega 6 fats thicken your blood. We need both, but the western diet usually has way too much omega 6 fats. This is why everyone stresses omega 3’s.

I find this absolutely fascinating and think the masses should be aware of these facts. I am a sufferer of Autism and believe that I may actually have mercury poisoning from the amount of Tuna and King Mackerel I have eaten daily throughout my life. The doctors here (in the U.K.) will not ask about your diet, and have only recently asked for repeat blood tests after years of these symptoms. Much love for bringing these facts to light❤

Excellent information as usual from this wise doc! Doing such a great job teaching the truth, when the food industry has worked so hard to confuse Americans...Just say No to the “sad” standard American diet! We have to consciously make the right choices for what we put into our bodies, dodging the poison that is marketed and sold as food in America. Thank you 🙏🏻 for speaking the truth and educating your viewers!

I tried sardines for the first time this year. I'm 60. I was surprised they just taste very much like tuna but saltier and a bit richer. I put some yellow mustard on them and sometimes Frank's Hot Sauce on them to take the edge off of them. They're actually not bad and very filling for just a small tin. I figure a few tins a week would give me some good Omega 3 oil and some bio-available minerals.

I live in Montreal, Canada and usually buy frozen Pacific white shrimps! After watching this video I got curious and went to see the back of one package of the shrimp I have in the freezer and it says; farm raised in China !! I had never read the back of the package before. I always thought the shrimp came from the Pacific Ocean in British Columbia. I think I will have to throw the package in the garbage and forget about shrimps! One must really take the time to read what's on the back of food packaging as a lot of times the information in the front of the package is misleading !
