I followed Adam Scott on the morning of the last day of the Open Championship last year. He was paired with Billy Horschel who hits it good but Adam Scott was in a different league. So stable over the ball. Hard to describe but he covered the ball so well, it was as if his entire mass was centred over it at impact so well that it was just solid striking every time. He didn't score that well but I have not seen many people hit it better in terms of striking. I remember watching Stenson close up when he was flushing it. That made a different noises when he cracked a few away,
@pmartin88813 жыл бұрын
I agree with a lot of the people on here, Fred Couples has to be on this list. He said "best swings ever, and all 5 are currently still playing." Fred is still playing so best ever and current fit here. Also, Morikawa should he on this list over Louis and Champ IMHO. His controlled back swing and then to fire like he does on the downswing is a thing of beauty. JT deserves some love as well but since we're talking best ever, Hogan has to be here. It's hard to pick 5 but I'd say Hogan, Tiger (in his prime, early 2000s) Freddie, McIlroy and Morikawa (though Adam Scott could be 5 as well). Also, don't forget vintage Ernie! Great swing and super smooth tempo
@jamesconnolly30423 жыл бұрын
Good list. I’m 50, so I’ve seen all of the ones listed and tough to argue these guys. Young Tiger was unbelievable. I’d add a couple names for consideration: Payne Stewart, Sam Snead, Ben Hogan, Steve Elkington, Ernie Els, Tom Purtzer, and Retief Goosen come to mind. But the one swing that i was always in awe of, was Fred Couples. It isn’t a swing to teach, nor is it one to copy, IMO. But dang it was buttery smooth!

Hey Grant, love the channel. Back in the late 80’s or early 90’s I watched Moe Norman hit balls at an exhibition. His swing looked so weird but the results were astounding. He hit EVERY SINGLE SHOT PERFECTLY how he wanted and shaped to perfection. They had Big Cat Williams the world long drive champ there hitting as well and Moe just blew him away because they were hitting into a stiff wind. Moe just hit every drive down the pipe and Big Cat was spraying it everywhere. It was fun to watch. I heard stories of how Ben Hogan and other tour pros would watch him hit balls at the range and that he would put drive after drive through a tire that was at the end of the range. From what I saw of him when he was about 60, I can believe it. I think he was a savant or something… like the Rain man of golf.

I remember hearing about Moe Norman about 3 years ago during my first year as a member at a club. I played with a 70ish year old member and he was raving about Moe. I'm so glad Tiger made the list. Growing up it was MIND BLOWING to me how much effortless speed that man could generate. The reason why Louis is seen as one of the greatest talents is his nature with his swing. Although it looks real pretty, he does have much hip or shoulder turn and sort of flips his hands at the ball. So he’s considered such a huge talent as he’s able to be so consistent with a “flippy swing” which is rarely seen.
