I have always kept my ball position in the middle. Driver a little passed middle. I have sense changed that and started moving ball forward depending on club and I went from a 18 handicap to 6 in less than a month. Absolutely mind blow to be honest. I’ve never been able to hit my long irons. Hybrids and woods I never even used because I could never make good contact. My driver went from 250-260 to 290-300. Who needs to pay thousands for a golf trainer when you guys put out fire videos like this

Did the drill and took it on the course. 5 strokes knocked off the score first round after first time doing the drill. I also got a fuller turn and got my hands set before beginning the down swing. Plus the fact that they're short and to the point is beneficial since I personally have the attention span of Steve. I have a general question. I can hit draws with my shorter to mid irons without issue. However once I get into my long irons, woods, and driver it becomes more difficult for me to swing from the inside due to the ball position being much more forward. How do you compensate for that and still swing from the inside when the ball is positioned at your left heel?
@BrendenBishop3 жыл бұрын
Also, good to know that depending on how loose you are that day and your current power/swing tempo it may modify your ball position. Some days it may be front or back of center even for P-Wedge depending on how your swinging. When you warm up before the round, its important to find that sweet spot of where you're feeling it. Too late on warmups to try and mechanically work on your swing right before the round, move the ball position where it works and just play.

I think this is great video but if you could do it the opposite way. What I mean is move the ball instead of moving the body. Call it a ball or half ball but seeing the distance off the still line would be much more readable for your average player instead of us averages trying to read and or guess on what his movement is. Idk could just be me and I love the videos and appreciate the help so much. I’m just thinking out word more then you guys already have. Love the content and keep it up! Front foot, I keep mine straight vs how his is slightly pointed forward. I’m guessing I should turn mine just a bit? I hit a natural draw but going to try ball position and maybe the foot and see what happens. It’s a stronger draw most of the time. I tee off with my 6 iron but I think my ball position is more forward than his was for sure. I’d say mine is a ball and a half forward to 2 balls forward of center. My fitter had me hit my 7 from center and I was striking middle of iron then. Guessing I need to adjust accordingly

Do you also move the ball farther away from you when hitting those longer clubs? Or does moving the ball up in the stance take that away?
@daltonsideas3 жыл бұрын
since the shaft length increases with longer clubs and you have to shallow out your swing to drive the ball at a lower loft, you should be a bit further away with longer clubs than shorter ones. i like watching what the pros do- comparing clips of them driving and pitching might better visualize what i'm trying to explain.

what's the distance between clubs that I should be shooting for in where the ball is in my stance? I've been using about a quarter of the ball's diameter as my rule of thumb (ie: the ball with my 6 iron is one ball-length further forward in my stance than my pitching wedge). idk if its a linear scale tho, i'd love to hear some feedback!

How do y'all feel about using your face as reference instead of your feet? I've been experimenting with aligning the ball with nose/eye/cheek/jaw bone/ear instead of where it sits between my feet and the results have been really good for me regarding consistency. Clay Ballard says for 3 wood to keep a little forward of irons, less than where you guys saying to put it, guess will have to try both and get back to you. I know putting it too far in front causes a lot of topping. Gotta hit down with all clubs except driver. Clay just moves the ball to center for wedges and short irons and then with longer irons it moves up maybe an inch. Hybrids and woods about a ball forward and then driver to inside heel. How can you hit down on a 3 iron if it's too far forward.
